solve (Mar 23, 2007)
I was going to do something violent and psychadelic but chose to do this instead. Based on:

http://pichan.org/pc/images/1767/20060606162742361.jpg

I googled the text and nothing came up. If anyone knows info on the original artist, I would like to know as well. Will finish soon.

So much warmth, beauty and grace, I couldn't escape her.
Everything is what I offered her and everything is what she became.
But, so I found out, she was never meant to be with. Once this was known, there was no rekindling the flame.
In my mind, she remains so vivid, attempts to forget her and her love have proven agonizingly difficult.
I was left with unrequited love, a curse so consuming it plagued my every thought...but why? and for who?
I was naive, not recognizing she was damned when I first met her.
She was blind and lead me to be blinded myself, this is the way of the damned.
Strong poison are the damned, their sickness lingers way too long.
I now know it is better to reject the damned.
Let the damned be damned.

Looking back
on the memory of
The dance we shared
beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance
Holding you
I held everything
For a moment
wasn't I the king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd' have had to miss the dance
Yes my life
is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
but I'd have had to miss the dance
Garth Brooks

You'll dance again :).

Hey klox, you've really tapped into something great here, in terms of layering and dimension, the implications are awesome, very inspiring.
ranger90039 (Mar 27, 2007)
I keep looking at this piece, it's got this creepy Pinocchio, mannequin feel to it. it would be interesting to see you do a few scary fairy tale drawings. =D

Holy shit, bro. I love this Duchamp-ey kinda stuff you're doing. If I ever get good enough or noticeable enough that people bother to ask me who my influences are, you're going to be on the short list.

I do a lot of painting, from my imagination as well as references... I have to think through where a shadow would go, I also doodle a lot and try and work stuff out by talking to myself! I reckon its mainly just lots of practice, and even so I get stuff wrong.. I really admire the people here who are photorealistic!
davincipoppalag (Mar 23, 2007)
I talk to myself but it doesn't make me draw better...maybe cuz I don't listen.. heheh
cmb (Mar 23, 2007)
oh Davinci! lol- It might just be a sign Im mad!

What cute baby, chubby, but cute. Yes, get thee over to inter.
lori (Mar 23, 2007)
yeah I think I made the face a bit too big
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 23, 2007)
That other fat baby had Dutch Apple dessert, this one looks like he just got fed a spoonful of creamed spinach, except that it would more than likely be drizzling down his chin. :) This is very "well painted".

Is it a Dutch or English book?
I can see so much things in it, fantastic :D
R. (Mar 26, 2007)
It's in English, Roy. But a Dutch publisher has expressed a clear interest. It also contains five drawings, which are the same in any language.
Roytje (Mar 26, 2007)
I'm curious! Please memo me when it's published :) Will the English book be available in The Netherlands?
R. (Mar 26, 2007)
NL will be the main secondary market because that's where I live and have my network. You'll be able to order the book online and it will be mailed to you. The whole marketing plan seems to be coming together now and the response from the bookshops has been excellent. It's as if I'm locked in the cloakroom, waiting for the big game to begin.

She looks like me when I was about 7 yrs old =D I love how she's coming out of the shadows and all you see is her sweet little face. Such nice work!

Hey, Hey Sweetie!! Nice to see you again! I've been off in my own little artsy world practicing my pc drawing. It finally got a bit stuffy in that closet so I thought I'd come out for a while. I finally got a Wacom! Love It! I've noticed lots of different draws here. Lots of styles I don't remember seeing much of last year. I hope to spend some more time here when I can! (((hugs)))

Excellence. I find the colours quite strange... they stir some murky memories in my head...

loss of the desire to impress
6 comments – latest 4:
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 21, 2007)
More than likely the loss of that desire is due to the fact that you've impressed so many for so long that you just got bored with that aspect of it. If your work were any more impressive on a regular basis, people around here would probably start sucking on your toes instead of just kissing your feet. Your work won't suffer from the loss of that... your best art shows when you just feel something and your expression shows in a painting.

I lost that desire a long time ago, but I'll still paint.
solve (Mar 21, 2007)
You not impressing would be a change. Minus those fun time doodles you do (but those dont count). Oscar said so.
Punky (Mar 21, 2007)
But his fun time doodles are so funny. :)

I really like her face.
Miss_DJ (Mar 22, 2007)
she's very pretty, even with the doodles.

Betcha his breath smells like Gerber Dutch Apple dessert. I loved that stuff... I would always buy two... one for the baby, one for me. :) So pretty, Lori...I like that I can see the brush strokes. Great painting, here.
