Part of it is the number of draws, you get "promoted" according to your points, points being accumulated by drawings and number of comments. Basically, it just means you spend too much time here when you get bumped up. lol I hate cats so I love this drawing. edit: Oh, it kind of looks like one of the pictures from that funny book "101 Uses for a Dead Cat" very insightful reading.... lol

Yea ..what Cindy said..

I can't believe I'm actually going to try this again. After seeing what my Dad's been able to do on here lately, I thought I'd give it another attempt.

Maybe download the lates edtion of Java from www.java.com? Glad you came back. Your dad is doing some great stuff! Get your brother out from under that VW and make him draw!
DejasView (May 3, 2004)
Thanks for the suggestion, davinci. I downloaded the latest version of java but it still didn't help. I understand the problem might have something to do with some sort of limitation that Lascaux has with the IE browser. I have no intention of changing my preferred browser just to accommodate an online drawing so I guess I will just have to live with it.
laurael (May 3, 2004)
Hey...welcome back! Nice piccy...too bad about that loading problem tho...
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 3, 2004)
So glad you came back to draw! I love the colors you used here... keep messing around with the applet and soon it'll be just like painting or drawing in real medium... you'll get used to it. :) (I recommend sticking with the Lascaux)

Dunno why theres no comments on this. I love the colors, and the purples blues and pink skin tones.
The bg could of been a bit better, but this is still very nice!
tivatdoar (edited May 10, 2004)
amazing work, loved the light on the stand effect.
body is very realistic. the face however seem much less realistic, the eyes are too close, from one another and too close to the nose.
laurael (Jul 8, 2004)
Hey now, this is pretty cool! I like how you did the lighting effects on this and that hair...the color is wonderful...!

laurael (edited May 22, 2004)
How the heck did I miss this one? I really like this...and the tattoo looks like one of those crop circles...neat...
Invierno (Jun 19, 2004)
Its fine the way it is. Everyone's version of what an elf, dragon, etc should look like is doformed in some way or the other. But then again, it isn't deformed to the one drawing it. I actually like the proportions of the arms to the hands, and yeah, very pretty elf you got there. Not sure if that constitutes me having homosexual fantasies or not though. ha. The detail isn't too overwhelming, I think that's probably what I like most about it.
Cordelia_Pink (Feb 7, 2005)
this is a pretty good picture. nice elf. i like the design on the bottom of his shirt.

It didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to. But I'm running out of space and getting rather tired of working on it too.

this is really beautiful. i really love the shape of the lips and the facial expression. the left eye is a bit too high, but it doesn't detract from the overall beauty.
coriolis (Apr 22, 2004)
Was kinda like that in the original photo. I probably should have found one that was easier to do ^_^ I'll try to finish this one later.
Pandora (Apr 23, 2004)
This is a great drawing to learn from ..it does look like a oil painting. Wish I could use it for an example of using tones when I draw, just so I could understand at least that part of it.It's to bad we can't pull the drawing down at the same time. Not for copying but for understanding.Exquisite!

Lori... don't be so hard on yourself.. if you think something is impossible of course it'll overwhelm you everytime you try to face it. Fur is something that is really hard to do. Imagine, the Gerbil and Rabbit on the blockbuster commercials took over one million single strand hairs on each one to make them look real. In that respect none of these pictures can look "just LIKE" the photo. If you set impossible goals for how you want your picture to turn out you'll always be disappointed. I think you should be proud. It's a very nice picture of a squirrel. The contrast would come along nicely if only you set high, but realistic, goals for how you want it to turn out. Art is supposed to be a release from life and troubles and turmoil, not create it. Don't stress over a picture.. just relax, you're great :-D
LovelyLori (May 5, 2004)
this is as done as it's getting, I've already gotten extra space once.... thanks Aubrey, such nice words... I've always been a perfectionist, and get real irritated when something doesn't turn out how I want it to.... this little guy would've been better had I taken a different approach from the beginning, but oh well.... lately, I just feel like playing on here, doing things from my mind rather than a reference... and you wouldn't believe how many pics I've deleted recently! lol
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 5, 2004)
I think he turned out quite nicely, Lori, and I totally understand the perfectionist frustration thing. I have been doing the same thing lately... working on stuff and then just deleting it. One of the first paintings I ever did in real oils I got so mad that I painted a huge black x on it and threw it on the floor. It felt wonderful. (But I was like 8 years old lol) I got in alot of trouble, though. :) And the next day I told my art teacher she was ugly and fat (well... she was, and she was mean to me, too) Sometimes you just have to let it go and do exactly that, draw and paint things that you like just because you like them, and don't worry about if anyone else is going to like it or not. Some of your best stuff will come out like that. Right now I am working on the weirdest picture I never thought I'd do.... just because it's a combination of some of my favorite stuff. Even if it doesn't turn out perfect I'm going to post it and be happy. You should be proud of your squirrel... he looks fat and happy to me. :)
LovelyLori (May 8, 2004)
thanks dba.. well put.... I hate getting so frustrated, and I try to tell myself not to give a damn about it... but it's kinda hard on this site, I want things to look just so for all who view it.....
