On another note...this seems somewhat ...I don't know like you didn't give it your all. I do like how in the thumb nail this piece looks very much like splatters of white paint...I almost would like to see you go more abstract, sharp, but abstract. I agree with the others in your great ability to achieve alot with very little.

lloks like a scratch off, where you paint/fill it blue and use white to carve it off :] muy cool

I would love to see you try the silver surfer in this style. It's wonderful with only a few loose strokes. I must learn to be looser.

I was thinking while I was painting this about how I keep my oil paints in a big tackle box and I would always squeeze the tube wrong and the seam in the back would break or the tube would get a hole in it and while I was painting I'd get all engrossed in what I was doing, squeeze the tube to replace a color I had run out of, and paint would squirt out from 3 different directions and then I figured, why bother putting the lid back on, and throw it in the box and then the tubes would stick together and dry up. I wonder if anybody else is that sloppy.

Dave, I don't really know the story behind the dolls. I tried looking them up online but all the ones they show are different than this type. A friend who grew up in Japan gave this one to me a few years ago and only told me the type. I'll keep trying to find out. :-)

I used that scene as a ref myself too ^^ only on a different board, hehe. I really don't think burning is a good idea, especially for skin; it ends up making the skin a lot redder than it should be, and you have less control oover the colours. I like the face though :D

If you darken using different shades for the skin, clothes, hair ect, then come back with burn on low low opacity and flow and a wide soft brush and go over the darks, I do that, and dodge too. Or go to the tool window and pick color burn/doge, set the color on the wheel to almost dark or a lighter shade and you'll get a better result because the burning tool is picking up the color of the skin, clothes ect..... I've gotten some good results with it.

I like the way this looks, very abstract.
