Can someone please tell me if there is a Lascaux Tutorial somewhere waiting patiently for me to view it? :) I could have sworn I saw something here about it while browsing but can't find it again. I MUST learn to use all of the tools there! HELLLLP.

A pic I came across that I couldn't resist...too cute. Altered it just a bit.

Uh...who's mad? I'm not mad... I 'did' laugh at your comment about the five heads...! Hilarious...
Childlike_Vampire (Feb 12, 2004)
lol Well, I suppose mad wasn't the right word. No worries, lol. And this is still a great pic. They look so soft!
laurael (Feb 13, 2004)
No worries here either. Love your pics btw...wonderful talent.

This is so neat. the creatures look more like baby chip munks.I see some as I walk to work , they like to hang around some thickets on the side of the railroad .One day, I looked under a bush after hearing leaves russle. This time a rat was looking up at me. I didn't think it was cute! |

Well, this is my first image with this tool and on this site, so I decieded to start with something simple to draw - a tree in winter, no leaves, just a bit of shading. Its far from perfect and I think I'd like to tinker with it some more.

lookin good so far...i know youre not done...but wont the branches make a shadow too?
foxman8245 (Feb 13, 2004)
Depending on where the sun is in the picture, the shadows of the branches might not be visible on the pic.

hmmm well I can't revise the pic. It was too large to edit. I didn't merge the layers before saving because then I would not have been able to touch up the pic properly. Foo. Somehow the layers (which I only used 5 of) or maybe the image dimensions, made the image too big for me to edit it again. If it was the layers then thats pretty sad, as five is a pretty dinky number of layers for it to cause a problem with re-editing. I'd understand 20 or even 12, given how many layers a serious pic can take in Paint Shop Pro or any other tool like that. I guess I will have to do all my pics in one session from now on, which means drawing *very* little (say one pic every 3 months or so if I'm lucky), as I have a life that takes me away from the computer every few minutes (child, housework, disabled wife). Oh well. It was nice for a while. I guess I'll just browse other peoples work. I understand the need for size contraints on saved images, so I guess I'll have to stick to drawing at home on PSP most of the time. So much for learning tis cool new tool. |

:P ....done! Even with a tablet it sure does take some effort let me tell you! Some things I see that still need fixing but their small and I don't really think that they detire from the pic that much so I'm not going to bother. Heh....no referance use of any kind. I should draw when I'm pissed or stressed more often! My best works seem to come from those times. *shrugs* Any ways....Have a HAPPY "VALENTINE"s day! *I know bad joke* :D Enjoy

Wynken and Blynken and Nod, one night,Sailed off in a wooden shoe, Sailed on a river of crystal light Into a sea of dew. "Where are you going, and what do you wish?" The old moon asked the three; "We have come to fish for the herring fish That live in the beautiful sea... ...Nets of silver and gold have we." Said Wynken, Blynken and Nod. ...and the little stars are the herring fish, that live in that beautiful sea... This image was supposed to be Wynken, Blynken, and Nod. <sigh> I hate the learning curve on new tools... Edit 12 March 2004: Well, I got more space allotted so that I could finish this piece, only to find that the image doesn't come up properly when I try to edit it; so I'm giving up and marking this piece as finished, though I may revisit the concept later -- it's given me some ideas that I really want to work with some more. :) As mentioned, this image was supposed to be Wynken, Blynken, and Nod. They used to have faces. So did the moon. They disappeared in a layer alteration. I don't understand how to make ShiPainter work with the layers! Waaah! I convinced myself, after much argument, not to do the cyberspace equivalent of wadding this up in a little ball and tossing it in the trash. Quite possibly I should have. The stars looked better earlier in the creative process, too. But, I really kind of liked the soft watercolour illustration look of this piece, like something from a book for very young children... ...so I caved. <sigh>
Feel free to tell me whether or not you think I should have.
dixielandcutie (Feb 10, 2004)
oh ...my....goodness. this has to be my absolute favorite poem/song in the world. that is so precious. i love what youre doing with it so far, and cant wait to see it done
zorb (Feb 10, 2004)
I agree with you dixlandcutie. I love the style. It's the kind of watercolor illustraion that you see in a lot of kids books. It's not as much progress as I'd hoped for in this session, but I got the shoe moved further down in the picture, finished the woodgraining, and added some perspective to the stars... ...and, most importantly, you can now see the whole of the moon. :) Next step, I replace the face on the moon, and the minimal indications of faces on Wynken, Blynken, and Nod. Best of all, I've got a much better understanding of how the layers work in Shi-Painter! *does a happy dance* I think I've even cut down on the storage space that this image should take. :)

Yup, the new Yuna is interesting... the shading seems a bit simple
