I put my bet on the green one because it is a transgalactic federation robot, as its star of authenticity on its chestplate states. Those robots are of much higher quality. <:)

Because we're all a bunch of pixel-pushing pirates.

Inspired by Ty854's t-shirt design.

Haha, I love it Zack. Although very simple, its awesome, and well done.
kejoco (edited Oct 2, 2004)
This would make a great t shirt design
nice concept zack
Someone should look into getting these printed, aren't there sites where you can get your designs printed fairly cheap and only on demand?
I'm sure there would be people on this site who would want a t shirt like this
I know its been discussed before but i think someone should make a go of it
Anna (Oct 2, 2004)
Oooo great final version! Looks good!

Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I have not forgotten 2draw, although I have neglected it. Suffice to say that this is the craziest semester I've had yet at college, both academically and otherwise. However, I should still have time to make at least one mediocre drawing a week, now that things have mostly calmed down. So. I'll be around.

Whoo, Zack's alive! That looks like some nasty math, you poor boy.
davincipoppalag (Sep 25, 2004)
Welcome home Mr Zack! You've been missed.
mukumuku (Sep 25, 2004)
man do i know what you mean. college sucks. but it's good to see you've returned! i've always loved your pictures
iwonderwhy (Sep 26, 2004)
Wow... that's how I feel right now. And I'm only in high school yet. Ironically, I don't feel that way about my Pre-Calc class... I just feel that way about everything else I'm doing. lol. I don't think that's a good sign...

Cool job on this. Way to represent all of us confused students--be they in high school or college! Go you!

I'm finally starting to get this realism thing down. ;]
Inspired by Thear and xaxsinglextearx's drawings.

So, yeah, just a quickie to say I'm leaving for home tomorrow. Dunno if I'll even have an internet connection there or not. Worst case, I'll be back on 2draw after moving into my next apartment in two weeks.

Note to Ty854: Sorry I didn't work on that big battle picture. It took more time to pack than I expected, and I didn't want to rush the drawing or start something I couldn't finish before leaving. Rest assured, it will happen, and it will rock.

Aubrey (Aug 5, 2004)
Poor Mr. Johnson.. he put up a good fight against the insectoid aliens but there were just.. too.. many.

This is very imaginative Zack and really well drawn. Looks just like a comic.
kejoco (Aug 5, 2004)
You should have kept "johnson" on his helmet.
That way when someone meets him they know to stay the hell away cause he's f*ked for sure!
Gigandas (Aug 16, 2004)
Heh, for a sec I was with KO.Looked like the creator of this machine made a VHS or DVD recording of someone (or himself) pissed so they could put it into this robot's VHS/DVD player while it shot at stuff and so it can scare away the enemy.Nice machine gun though.Btw, you let me down man, you said you'd have your first robot animation by the time I got home and now you're gone???Psshhh.....well, just IM me when you get back :P....

I like how you colored it. Neat looking robot.
mooseflower (Aug 4, 2004)
oooo... green... purdy...
Gigandas (Aug 16, 2004)
Geez, did you branch this guy out of Spark Mandrill from Megaman X???The gold shoulder plates and the hunch reminded me of him^^;.Even if that's the case, nice job with all the details.I wouldn't even know where to start drawing a robot^^;.I gotta say I like the smoke coming off his blown off left arm too.
Zack (Sep 30, 2004)
Thanks everyone! Nah Gig, the similarity hadn't even occured to me. That happens though... I just kind of mix and match different forms in my head until I have a concept that I think will look cool, and a lot of times I haven't mixed stuff up as much as I think I have, kind of like how Robot No. 2 ended up looking like Samus. Of course, you draw a certain kind of thing enough times and you'll have coincidences like that. I'll have to try breaking out of my usual design concepts for the next robot.

How layers work.
- Layers can be thought of as clear sheets of plastic that you draw or paint on. Each layer is independent of the other, and their order can be changed.
- The main use for layers is being able to paint behind something without changing it. This is essential for coloring lineart, but is also useful for seperating the foreground, midground, and background.
- Layers can also be useful for transparency. For example, if your drawing had a ghost in it, you could have the ghost on its own layer and set it to half opacity. (Opacity is the opposite of transparency.) This is also useful for lighting effects.
- Keep in mind, however, that more layers usually means bigger file size.

Adding layers.
In Oekeki-Shi, each drawing starts out with a default of three layers. Usually that is all you need, but if you need to add a layer, click the Menu button in the layers window. Lascaux starts with just one layer. To add layers in Lascaux, simply click the button under the word Edit on the left.

Changing layer order.
After selecting the layer you want to move, drag it in the direction you want to move it.

Hiding/showing layers.
To hide or show a layer in Oekeki-Shi, click on the circle to the right of its name in the layer window. To hide or show a layer in Lascaux, click on the V to the left of its name in the layer list.

This was a good idea. ^^ So many people don't know how to use layers, and it definately helps. Great hand! I wish I could draw hands... TT-TT

Oh wow! I really like this for some reason. I love your shading. The different sizes in lineart makes it look awesome. Nice stuff.
