FuzzyWuzzy (Mar 22, 2008)
I took a pictures of this little fella in my water garden last spring. He was so friendly I think I took 200 photos of him fluttering around. He allowed me to get in very close with my macro lens and take shots of the graining on his wings and head. I was just beaming, everyone that saw me out there must have thought I was a total flake....wait...pfffft who cares!

Sorry, that wing was going to drive me nuts and I can already see something else that is jumping out at me.
KathyH (Mar 23, 2008)
I never noticed the problem with the wing, but it looks great either way!

and another refugee! I love the colours of the background the whole effect is quite ethereal . . .
STARZSHINE (Mar 25, 2008)
very cool pic gel-o, I had a tree just like that in my woods behind my house while growing up. It was huge, full and round, but it was also a great tree to climb! I would climb to the uppermost brances and just spend an afternoon gazing out above the other trees. I could see for what seemed like miles...It was the most peaceful times I can remember, sometimes the whole neighborhood would climb into it's branches and we'd play I spy, or truth or dare, a lot of wonderful times in that tree! thanks for the nugget of memories!
Meno (Mar 30, 2008)
This is grand! It's rather a "Tim Burtonesque" tree :)

This is still one of my favorites of your drawings. Hope you get a chance to draw more online.

Three layers here. Gradient first layer. The background foliage was nest. The the foreground foliage and the butterfly came third.

Gorgeous QT! Wonderful how you faded out the background and zoomed in on this splendid little creature!
Cameo (Mar 23, 2008)
I like the definition of this very much! It is truly what makes the painting fantastic! Nice subject matter also. Well done! ;o)

I was in the hospital recently and on a restricted diet. Instead of flowers or magazines, my family brought me a fruit tree. It's called "Edible Arrangements". It was delicious...of course I shared with the nurses and staff. My fruit tree was quite a hit.

Those are such a fun idea. The florist a block from my house makes those. Pretty rendering of it Gloria

Sorry to hear you were in the hospital. Hope you are better now. We just had one of the fruit trees at work that one of our vendors sent us to thank us for a project we are working on. It was delicious... and such a great idea. Love the drawing, it makes me want some now.

I think I will do that, although I have a darker giraffe here already. Kinda like the soft/muted look. Also still have some work to do on cleaning up on her, she's a bit fuzzy here and there.

STARZSHINE (Mar 19, 2008)
adorable, would love to see this in a baby's room, or even in a daycare center, the children would just love this, it is so cute!

This is very cool Dave. I would like to enter this contest but I do not understand how to do the textures. Or, do you just draw textures, or do you import them from somewhere.....Just me, confused again.
Laura
Shanghai (Mar 21, 2008)
QTgillie- The applets aren't set up in a way for you to import textures from anywhere, so you'll have to draw them yourself. What davincipoppalag did here was draw the sky as if it was wood, the sea as if it was made of bricks, etc. If you have any questions about it go ahead and ask.
jpjp1052 (Mar 30, 2008)
Brick water must be hard on the rudder. Cute idea & nice draw.
Xina54 (Mar 30, 2008)
as far as I can see this is the only finished entry that matches the criteria of the contest . . .

The real Easter Egg.

I remember making these with my mom and grandma during Easter. Good memories.
This was as hard to draw as dying an actual Pysanka..... except no wax....... or dye....... or candle....... or kistky.

Happy eat the chocolate rabbit butt first instead of the ears day everyone.

This looks a lot like romanian easter eggs. So.. easter eggs and cabbage rolls, tradition and cuisine. It seems we have common ancestors. And it makes sense - our countries share a border.

That is so cute. Looks like that ape from Disney's Tarzan... no wait, or that show "Going Bananas" i think... haven't seen it in ages. anyhow, I love watching the animation for this. I truly admire your precision for detail and texture. I love doing realism but I find myself losing patience after an hour or so. Anyhow keep doing what you love, your technique is awesome. :D
