i love the critter, that is such a great design... it kinda looks like a camel, a deer, a lizard, a horse and a dog put together and painted a lovely shade of pinky purple. ^_^ *gives cookie*
Shanghai (Mar 6, 2005)
Actually reminds me of an East Asian mythological animal. Like a Kirin though they're more of a scaled, firey unicorn. The pose is well done too, though it's a rather common one being used for thousands of years. Still a good pose, but maybe try a variety too.

Even though its really simple, I still liked it ^^; I'm not sure of whether I should have used the color purple for the hair though. If you can't tell it's supposed to be some winged figure ....

I think it's pretty clear it's a winged figure, and you left enough detail out to also give an abstract quality to this. It has a nice feeling of vertical movement.

I like how the light is shining on her face. Seems like she's looking into the refrigerator for a midnight snack.
Shanghai (Mar 6, 2005)
The light here is pretty cool. Normally I'd say that there's too much focus on the right side and you need to balance it out more, but in this case it works well since I'm left wondering what she's looking at as if I'm about to see it, but I never do. It gives a feeling of wanting to move forward.

my computer is so messed up!! Work on it later...
Shanghai (Mar 6, 2005)
It's an interesting scene you're making here. I'm wondering if there's a reason for the multicolored hair or if it was something just done arbitrarily. I'd lean toward making it either mostly or entirely one color, or maybe one color that fades into another color personally.

I'm not sure if you plan on doing anything else besides finishing the two characters, but I thought I'd point out that there seems to be some disharmony between your use of soft shading in the sky and a bit in the grass and your use of sharp, pure black lines on the characters and the horizon. I think it may be better if you stuck more with one or the other in this case.

I look retarted in this pic, it was hard 2 draw small, gimme a break
vamp2 (Mar 7, 2005)
Yes the fact that you had to draw it small. But you can draw pictures smaller than that but your new so until you get use to the tabblet and things. I think your'll come together and draw some crazy art work. I would also like to saywhen you draw feet don't make them sguare.

Nice use of pale colors, and the shading on her head gives a good sense of it being round.

Hey...when's everybody else coming?
Shanghai (Mar 6, 2005)
It's always good to try out new poses. Personally I like to use anatomy books for reference, though even clothing magazines can work well. I think you've pulled their elbow a little too far behind them though so it's almost touching their spine, which is sort of giving the impression of us not being sure right from the start which side is the front. It looks like they're in either a movie theater or maybe just their living room on a couch.
featherstone (edited Mar 6, 2005)
hey that's a cool pose... it says to me, "you're behind me, but I'll contort myself so we can talk" :) maybe you should title it "conversational contortion" :P
Tresspasses (Mar 8, 2005)
redpanda> Thanks for the tips. I know something looked odd, but wasn't sure quite what.

featherstone> I like that title, thanks for the laugh.

I'm suddenly imagining all sorts of pick-up lines coming from him... o_o

I like the way it's not just sketchy but also fades out at the bottom and right side, so the guy has the most definement to him.
