Here's my first shockwaved file. It's simple, short, and not as involved as the teacher had wanted, but I was awake all night working on it and it's done enough for now. Link in just a couple minutes I'll be presenting it since class is starting.

i tried it doesnt look right it didnt turn out the way i wanted to!

You could use layers!PaintBBS's layers are easier to figure out.

You should use a different applet than PaintBBS. I would suggest Lascaux Sketch, but some people find Shi Painter better, since it's from the makers of PaintBBS. You should use layers to put the lineart in one layer, coloring in another, and in the third layer the background. That pretty much eliminates the need for the fill tool, and ultimately those pesky white spots. :3

PaintBBS is pretty simple to use, and can produce some pretty nifty graphics (See; Everdream), but better starting applets would be Shi-painter, or Shi-painter Pro. Lascaux is another excellent applet, but may be more confusing at first.Other than layering problems, you may want to work on proportions and symmetry a little more. The arms are different lengths, and one ear is much larger than the other. The head seems very big, but it could just be the style. The neck also dominates the shoulders a little too much, in fact, the neck is almost as thick as the torso. That could be considered a problem. Don't worry though, you'll soon get the hang of things, try observing realistic proportions (IE, not Anime) to get a better feel of human anatomy. In a.. non-dirty sense.

What I did to get the hang of proportion was to see how others drew it, or look at myself in the mirror and draw what I saw. |

This picture is soooo good....when i first saw it, for some reason, i thought itwas kagome....but at the same time it doesn't look like it....I love the eyes....eyes are normally what i first notice...wonderful |

Which i am...but that's beside the point.All i was trying to say was that maybe you should spend some more time on your pictures and actually try to improve your proportions. If you know whats wrong with it, try and fix it, dont just ignore it and the people seeing it too. 11 minutes on a picture is not long enough to begin to improve. It may seem like a long time when you are actually in the applet, but if you only spend said amount on time on something, there's going to be things wrong with it, and we arent afraid to point them out.

yes, I have been awake for the past 29 hours and I still have another 6-7 to go before I can rest, but my site is ready for my gallery show tonight. in the future I'll add more and expand it, but for now it has enough content to satisfy my expectations for this show. Now I need to get ready and go down there to setup things before the show starts. Notice how many of my artworks on there were made in lasqaux~ *mentions*

Figured it's time I made the transition to digital art. This is my first attempt ... I think I'm starting to get the hang of this tablet.

from a distance it looked like the thumb was a bald man staring at me. I like making digital art over things like paintings because of less time needed to make something and more flexability with working and reworking an area without ever running out of materials or wearing through the paper, etc.

Very nice grayscale drawing but the things edge is kinda flat its like a frown shaped edge urs is like [ more than ( but otherwise i'd believe that was a real hand

Rick, Great first shot at a drawing! You snuck this in without telling me. I think recognise that thumb...Try starting out with a grey background (you can set that in the bottom layer, or work right on top of it). You can add white for highlights, and it helps to 'see' better. (pure white rarely exsists in reality). So, you got a tablet? |
