I was listening to the Fiery Furnaces and I started to draw something random...which ended up being this...
[bah...went over the limit again...I think I'll stop using the blur tool for now :P]

UGH...I hate doing backgrounds...and it looks so arse with no background.

Interesting picture. I siggest blending the grass a little more, and possibly make his legs a little longer. By the way, the reason I even started commenting on this picture was this: I fence. xD
Me want to take kendo!!! O_O

Layers are evil, I sometimes get confused with them. I'm retarded.

I like the use of layers in this one, you can actually tell you used them.
Gigge (edited Jul 12, 2004)
Yup, supposedly canvas size and layers are the biggest eaters of space. But, I still can't keep my file size down. I go over almost every time. Oh and nice image, by the way. The reflection o nthe glass came out really nicel.
Zack (Jul 13, 2004)
Actually, I would say that the biggest culprit of space hogging is gradient shading (i.e. fading from one color to another). If you only use a non-antialiased (pixelated) brush on full opacity the entire time, it's unlikely you'll ever go over the limit. Water-color style brush strokes take up much more space, because they create lots of in-between colors.

VERY interesting, Zack. Thanks... I've been wonderin' the same thing. I'm always afraid to safety save if I have to leave... for fear that I'm over. So I'm one known to leave the applet open for the entire time.

Used a reference, but it turned out a bit different. Still like it though.

It seemed to look better with black outline...reminded me a bit of the film Waking Life where real film shots are 'coloured' over using some technique or other...I'm quite chuffed with the guitar and hands but I don't seem to have the drive to spend the time on every detail (mainly the background here) like most of you peeps. Maybe next time...

I think this is nice work.. Your style is somewhat similar to zep's in a way. I like this alot!
Gigge (Jul 11, 2004)
This is quite nice as it is even without adjusting the background. I like your choice of colors.
Knockoff (Jul 14, 2004)
This is really cool. I was just playing my guitar a little while ago :D Though, I suck at it mostly. :).

Thought I'd try this out with a simple black and white pic. Then played around to see what layers can do. He's got his hands behind his back if you are wondering...
