Looks pretty good. Have any ideas for it? Also, I'd like to know what you do for a technique. I'm still learning and would like to know a few new tricks.
xswirvex (Aug 24, 2005)
well from what i seen, it looks like you were blurring stuff which doesnt make stuff look good, and using oranges that made it look one solid color, theres more than one color to the orange, white, brown yellow etc.. and it also loooks like you used a pencil tool, which made stuff jagged. so i used a lower opacity & flow to make it smooth.
also with your wings you made them flat and smooth into a shape like if it was perfect, when i looked at your reference i didnt see perfect edged wings, its un-natural looking. i dont use lascaux, so im sure other people know other techniques, i find lascaux harder to paint with.
AuschwitzBurns (Aug 26, 2005)
Ok. Thank you. I'll try messing with a few of these things. Oekaki is a bit weird for me. I like the zoom tool.
GOODBYE (Aug 29, 2005)
It's coming out very nicely! Good job on the wings so far~

This is for all of those who have been saying that there's been too much anime lately. ;P
The cross hacthing is really hard to do with a mouse. o__O Can someone tell me what using a tablet is like? I've heard so many different things about it ranging from they are the greatest things in the world to they're not any better than a mouse.

Oh yeah. Ref. "Drawing the Living Figure" by Joseph Sheppard.

Definately not anime... I wish I could do something like this my problem is I have neither mouse nor tablet and must resort to the stupid clumsy finger pad on my laptop... This is so good and I can't wait until its finished, but I am puzzled by how it can get better than this...
Seklyan (Sep 19, 2005)
oh completely excellent.
broken-lock14 (Sep 19, 2005)
*sigh* I wish I could create artistic things like this. Actually, I think a lot of people complain about anime not because they don't like the drawing style of a person, but because they often create completely non-artistic and unoriginal drawings, like hyper cartoon females with a title like "some girl" or "random". Good artists might draw something like this occasionally, but doing it to excess irritates some people. Though to tell you the truth, I find anime art to be an uber spiffy style. But that's probably because my drawing style is based off anime *shrivels into a ball terribleness* D= I feel like one of those non-artistic and unoriginal people now....

Oh, on a side note, I so want to try out a tablet (anything would be better than the mouse I have).
Caddris (Sep 19, 2005)
Heh, I draw anime-esque characters a lot too, so please, don't shrivel into a ball of terribleness. Anime is just a way of simplifying features and a lot of its appeal comes from the crisp lines and coloring. It takes skill to find the one perfect placement for the one perfect line. Sort of like Hemingway for artists. XD I would oppose with my whole being anyone who argues that anime is non-artistic.

The colors are really nice...pretty dead on. I know the first ever still life I ever painted in "real life" , I included bannanas...and the obsessed over every little bruise, and getting the correct color...their a fun thing to paint. Lovely job.
