Actually, I love Math, and his brother Logic. They are good friends of mine.

Once, my little brother left an extra-credit math puzzle in my car. It showed a large square made of smaller squares, each of which was a different size. It gave you only the size of the square in the middle and asked if it was possible to get the size of the whole thing (the proportions were intentionally distorted a little so that you couldn't use a ruler). I showed it to a friend who had already graduated and was teaching high school math, and he said it wasn't possible. But I persisted that it was, and figured it out a few weeks later.

I'm flattered that this reminds anyone of Icat's work. It was just a doodle before I went to bed. Maybe soon I'll do a "for real" sky.
staci (Jul 18, 2004)
whatchoo talkin bout willis?
this is a very 'for real' sky...
the tree has great form and detail; in my opinion it couldnt get any better, even if you spent 3 hours on it
its very painterly and quickies are the best sometimes
LEELEE (Jul 18, 2004)
I love this!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jul 18, 2004)
I love this. I still like to lie lay on my back (whatever) in the grass or on the beach or wherever and look at the clouds. My daughter and I think this looks like you are in the mountains and looking up at the clouds. I have no idea where Dino got math out of that, but I hate math. Strange thing is I always like ppl who are good at it, though. Wonderful picture.

I like the colors and the composition. I would like it better with sharper details in the foreground and some definite shapes. Welcome to 2draw ..read the rules!
cara-lee (Jul 15, 2004)

emmamommalag (Jul 17, 2004)
Very nice, sinann. Yep, sharper is always better and this looks lots better now. I'd have detailed the grass as well but it's nice anyway and it does look peaceful. :)

Oh this drawing is so pretty, Especially the hair and the wing...I just wish the bg had the same awesome sketchy quality that the rest of it has, it would make it perfect. ^_^
ZaKi_nii-san (Jul 17, 2004)
>.> hmm, not a bad idea...
Bumble_Beez (Jul 18, 2004)
I really like the hiar. Even if it was pain, it was satisifying, wasn't it?

Aww, this is sad. Need to get that teddy into surgery. Looks like he used to get a lot of use.
DinoFlorist (Jul 16, 2004)
This is a good drawing, probably the best one I've seen you do. You do a good job with the light, but if you want to take it one step further, just look aroudn in your room or wherever at beams of light and you'll notice that when it hits the bear, the light is going to spread out based on the surface of the object. In this case, ths light would be hitting the right side of the bear. The seam would probably start to fase back into dark again. You did a cool job with the left arm. THat lighting looks very believable based on what you already illuminated.
Anna (Jul 16, 2004)
I like this a lot, Chibi. (Good info, Dino)
Bumble_Beez (Jul 16, 2004)
That's sad, and the rip where the eye was makes it look like it's crying.. Nice effect : 3 Keep up the good work!

I do live in alaska. And I feel sorry for you! Living here is bad enough, but living in Anchorage? poor davinci...
davincipoppalag (Jul 17, 2004)
We left a couple of months before the big earthquake in 1964. It was probably nicer there then than what it is for you...
damnskippytakn-a-break (Aug 30, 2004)
You are amazing. I wish I could draw animals. Mine look like a toddler got ahold of some pencils and started scrawling. I'm serious! But, I will keep trying and one day maybe I will be half as good at them as you!

should have done this before, but just to make sure nobody thinks this is a terrorist or that i am a terrorist sympathizer...this should put the painting into perspective a little bit
this is a quote, an excerpt from an essay by insurgent subcomandante marcos of the Zapatistas released in 94

"The oldest of the old in the Indigenous communities say that there once was a man named Zapata who rose up with his people and sang out, "Land and Freedom!" These old campesinos say that Zapata didn't die, that he must return. These old campesinos also say that the wind and the rain and the sun tell the campesinos when to cultivate the land, when to plant and when to harvest. They say that hope is also planted and harvested. They also say that the wind and the rain and the sun are now saying something different: that with so much poverty, the time has come to harvest rebellion instead of death. That is what the old campesinos say. The powerful don't hear; they can't hear, they are deafened by the brutality that the Empire shouts in their ears. 'Zapata,' insists the wind, the wind from below, our wind."

the whole essay can be found at http://zapatistas.net/two-winds.html

Great piece. I watched the animation. You wiped out a background guy. The gun must have backfired.
Fin_beast (Jul 15, 2004)
This picture makes me feel very uneasy. It's scary how it makes you feel like you are being threatened.
I really like this picture and it's one picture that I think should have a place in the showcase.
I may try something like this, to try and get the same effect.
Ari (Jul 15, 2004)
Lovely picture... Wish I could draw that well...
misterjimsan: No, Nader can't win. A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush, so vote Kerry ^_^
Xodiak (Jul 19, 2004)
Wow, very realistic drawing, the focus on the firearm makes it so great.
Oh and I saw the decapitation video on a website, without any censoring.
