The mad scientist and the jars with body parts in them are great, all these pics you're doing are :)
debem (Jul 10, 2004)
Well, I already love ALL your work, Icats...however, I find this particularly appealing because of my fascination with the weird, biological, and macabre.
Kloxboy (Jul 10, 2004)
Cool piece, I like the color of the flesh and those eyes look great. Stylish piece.
Knockoff (Jul 14, 2004)

I just wanted to thank you for doing this picture. I've gone through the versions several times trying to learn your technique for doing hair and it's helped so much. The way you saved the versions makes this like a mini tutorial. Thank you!!

I'll try to get a better background on this sometime later...for now, I'm leaving this as finished. Hope it's not too bad. X(

This is much better than animation cell quality. The shading in animation ('cell shading') is usually limited to two or three distinct shades per color. I think the kind of shading here is called 'gradient,' and to produce an animation where every frame was shaded to this kind of gradient quality would be an utterly insane undertaking. The shading in Disney movies is better than most, but still not this quality.

As for Disney itself, I have no doubt ED could get a job there. But unless you're 'the best of the best', you'll end up doing little more than drawing repetitive frames of someone else's characters to smooth out the work of the lead animators, and might not even get your name in the credits. Additionally, while working for Disney, any artwork you produce, even at home with your own utensils, belongs to Disney. I would hate for ED to work where her art would go unappreciated.
EverDream (Jul 2, 2004)
Thank you for your support Zack. I've considered working for the Disney companies long ago, but the idea of sitting constantly and repeating drawings of something someone else came up with just didn't appeal to me. You don't even get to colour them you know? Any wayz I'm shooting for one of three things, either becoming a digital illustrator, a game character designer, or tatoo artist. :D
Aubrey (Jul 2, 2004)
I like the lighting and you did the shadows of it really well! The colors are great too :-D Another great picture by Everdream.

Nice bold colors Sal. The sky and Pteradingy are just great. If there's an evil clown in the pic.. I hope that's lava.. and he's burning.. lol
Knockoff (Jun 17, 2004)
Woo, great one sal. Reminds me of some old dinosaur place with birds flying around for dead animals. ;).
I like the colors, the all stick out. Nice job Sal. Oh, and I really like the grass, it looks real, cept I think it needs a bit more, looks like you picked a lot of it out in the foreground. ;)
Fin_beast (Jun 26, 2004)
Totally missed this one. This is really really really really good sal. :D
Love it. I tried to do one similar a while ago... it's still in my studio and it's looking crap. -_-

aww lovely picture..sorry to hear...
longway (edited Jul 12, 2004)
thanks everybody, it really means alot to me. there are those people whom don't understand the grief that we know. to them a dog, is a dog, big deal. but for those of us who took the time to care and teach a pup, we know the difference. i still remain shocked as he reached out his paw to me at the last moment, raised his chin into the air, and bade me farewell. he had some of the worst habits a dog can have, but i would give anything for him to be here, and do them again. my god, it hit me like a brick, it was and is so profoundly done, i am in awe of his magnificence and grace, to the last moment, in as much as we intended, he never made it to the vet... again thankyou all so much.....inoun or longway..
cmb (Jul 13, 2004)
Damn! Im so sorry I only just found out- my telephone line has been broken for the last 5 days- all I can do is send my condolences- I know how you feel having lost various cats, I really do think they touch our hearts in such a profound and trusting way!

debem (Jul 10, 2004)
More {{{{{{Cyberhugs}}}}}} to you, longway. I also have suffered from depression for most of my life (it runs in my family). Trail walking, nature, art, honesty, and prozac have become tried and true remedies for me.
mx (edited Jul 12, 2004)
I suffer with the same things...especially the last 11 months...
But if it was not for the help given to me by Jesus, i would probably have committed suicide...
Thank the Lord for the light in the window...
all is but a season to pass

This is my first piece; it's a portrait of a famous actor (I hope people recognize him) using a reference. I will appreciate any feedback; I am especially interested in skin and hair coloring.

Yes, not a bad likeness, but I agree with mazi.. the proportions are off a bit.. also the face seems a bit too long overall? Good skin tones but you might blend a bit more?

Thank you for your comments everybody =) I tried to fix the jaw lines and blur the skin tones, but like you all said, my original pencil sketch was a bit skewed and made the face a little too long. I am afraid of tinkering with it anymore, as I am getting close to the size limit.
Aubrey (Jun 29, 2004)
You did a great job, the length was the problem but I think that comes from makin the nose too long.. so naturally you wanna make the rest of the face propotionate, but the nose bein long throws it all off. I've had that problem too. Always makin the nose too big to start it seems.
Anna (Jul 12, 2004)
hehe... I can't believe I didn't see this one before. Looks just like him, 01 :D (hmm and I'm wonderin' why you didn't link me to your user board that one night in iSketch! I nevvvver knew!)
