Nothing has been popping out to me from the blank canvas to doodle, so I went back to trying to draw from a photo again, but this time I played around with features even more than usual.Reference photo: http://gallery.amazon.ee/view_photo.php?set_albumName=European_Championships_2005&id=abh I was originally planning to do an orc and sought out a scary-looking bodybuilder for the reference, but I ended up with a wizard instead. This is my first attempt at submitting something in the advanced category. I hope it's okay: I spent ages on it, and I wanted to have the extra space available for revisions since I'm always running out of space. |

I like the skin texture you added. I like his wrinkles, too.... people with wrinkles are intresting to draw. It's like, all their life experiences and feelings and whatever are written on their faces.

I think you can be a believer of both, and I am. Being Roman Catholic myself I learned about His creation and evolution, and it's funny it seemed easy for me to blend the two, meld it if you will. I believe He exists and created the Earth and everything around us, but I also believe in the Big Bang and evolution... hmmmm maybe that makes me a bit by-polar. That would explain things. You can have Creation and Evolution, I believe it. Maybe someone just needs to find the middle where both fits. Awesome piece Opium, love that hair. He does look tired.....

A very interesting discovery zep. I really really like radio head, it is a very solid and lush work. Its strange because i always would associate a natural look (as far as the subjects go) to your works. Not anymore : )
zep (Apr 2, 2006)
:) as you see i´m quite naive in this kind of theme....thanks for your comments

The touches of blue and red do a lot for me. great depth and use of darkness. your figures are always so defined. much love for ya.
Zack (Mar 30, 2006)
If they're playing rock, paper, scissors the middle guy just lost. Paper's for wimps anyway; I say always go with rock or scissors.
Opium (Mar 31, 2006)
the middle guy's eyes are wonderful! |

in Victoria, Texasphoto reference used I have been looking at windmills all my life, but I never realized till painting this how interesting the design really is... it's simplistic, but complicated in a way - really a cool thing. Too bad they are slowly disappearing. (I never would have had the patience to do this in the old Lascaux, the line tool working well makes alot of things possible now) |

concannon (Jul 9, 2006)
Beautiful. I love that most of the color shades are brown and tan, and then there's just that little bit of blue in the necklace and earrings. Really, wonderful drawing.
Black_Bird (Jun 5, 2009)
Ah this is lovely.

Reminds me of General Zod from Superman. Without the crown.
Version 1 looks like a comicbook panel.
Version 2 looks like a bronze statue.
And the 3rd I mentioned.
WOWZERS.
