Can someone please tell me if there is a Lascaux Tutorial somewhere waiting patiently for me to view it? :) I could have sworn I saw something here about it while browsing but can't find it again. I MUST learn to use all of the tools there! HELLLLP.

Music can inspire your subject (Violin is one of the best musical instruments ! ^^).It's a girl playing violin in front of her young brother.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 24, 2004)
I strongly agree with Marcello's suggestions. Also, if that is a mirror on the left wall, it would be reflecting something, and doesnt even contain reflections of the wall color opposite. If it were a window, it would partially continue the other window scene.Other than that, this is wonderful composition and the subjects and colors are very well executed. It also has alot of feeling - You should consider illustrating children's books!

Looks really good, I like the way you did the hands.
marcello (Feb 29, 2004)
Well, I am assuming what you think is a window on the left with the clouds is probably a painting on the wall. Kind of disappointing that he did not fix the violin, but one can only do so much, I suppose.
LightBen (Mar 3, 2004)
The "window" on the left is actually a painting ^^.And for the violin ... I think I'm not gonna touch this picture as I won't be able to draw a better violin ... I should practice drawing musical instruments on paper instead ... For my next big picture :) |

just wanted to try something different...im not entirely happy with the sky...couldnt get it go blend like i wanted it to...hmm...suggestions?
sal (Jan 24, 2004)
try usin lighter colours(lower pressure) over the darker ones to blend it a bit....
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 24, 2004)
I'm so glad this place inspired you to hook up your tablet! We can prolly rock now! I really like what you did with the water, it shows you are observing the different values of colors in things. A little less contrast of colors and more consecutive brush strokes in the sky would make it easier to blend. (follow sal's sugg. too) I'm proud of you, DIXIE! Keep working!
dixielandcutie (Jan 24, 2004)
okay, i see what yall mean...id revise it, but im over my limit, and this is just fiddlin so i dont wanna ask for a hop up...but ill keep that in mind...thanks! |

Wow... This is amazingly realistic... *worships*A little more blurring to smooth some of the hard lines might be helpful, but it looks great like this, too.
cmb (Jan 24, 2004)
strong use of line here, obviously a portrait.. I like the limited palette, it adds coherence to the overall image
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 25, 2004)
This is very good work - it has a lot of dimension for a black and white sketch.
davincipoppalag (Feb 24, 2004)
wonderful likeness of a very beautiful woman.. i like the "wash" effect |

DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 24, 2004)
I kinda remember the 70's.... some of it's kinda fuzzy, tho. lol Great likeness.
concannon (Jan 24, 2004)
Excuse my idiocy, I'm only 14, but I'm gonna guess David Bowie. That sexy man. And no, I don't remember the 70's. If somehow I did, I'd be rather worried for my mental state.
jord (edited Jan 24, 2004)
ow, nice.... but i really don't like this hairstyle of his..uk..(although its well-drawn) i tried to draw him too once, but i guess he wasn't recognisablegood job! and such a short time...
cmb (Jan 25, 2004)

from memory?i wanta see yer personal photo-database, picture-perfect brain!that's what's known as a "photographic memory,"but i've never seen such a developed one!wow. if that is ocean water, it looks cold to me.so beautiful, ocean water is usually cold, unless it's very tropical. fantastic, sigh. you rock. :) (if Wales is so lovely, what's wrong with it? backward?nothing there?boring?if the nature is this good, i'd go to Wales any day.it's good enough for the royalty, eh?)

I have no idea, it's very late and I'm drawing...enjoy.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 23, 2004)
Hey Clox, Whatever that dude's always smokin aint too good for him, ya think? He looks a little green. :) lol On a serious note, i like it. Nice clean lines and i'm getting some sort of message from his head? Is that veins shaped like a tree, and is that the eternity symbol on his forehead? mysterious....
mazi (Jan 24, 2004)
wow very nice. the highlights and shades are awesome. the lines are good too. not many people go straight for the solids lately.
Look (Jan 28, 2004)
I don't know what to say, it's just awesome! I really like the way you shade and lighting your pictures, it's somewhat comic like and yet the detailed lines make it different from normal comic styles. Awesome!
bumpinthenight (Oct 24, 2004)

*eyeballs falling out* i really wanna make this work...the red light from the sign will make shading so cool...ahhh. umm...any suggestions on how this is going?okay wooohoo. i think this came okay..my first switch from using my right hand on a touchpad, to using my left on a tablet....any suggestions on shading? perspective? tablet stuff? anything? thanks!
ambiguous.alkadette.amnesiac. (Jan 24, 2004)
hehe...maybe look at a few things on proportions...
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 24, 2004)
Dixie this shows you are learning! Really creative idea, and the highlights on her are cool! I dont see anything drastically wrong with the proportions of this - the above might be referring to perspective a bit, but we havent really gotten into that too much yet. (We will) The angles of what she is standing on and a variation of colors in the ground would help with that. |
