I've been doing some experimental updates on lascaux sketch and hope to release them next week some time. I'm looking for power lascaux users who want to help test it.

new features v0.756:
- fractional brush sizes (now you can have a 1.5 or 3.2 pixel diameter brush) - this makes a huge difference for tablet support, you now get much smoother size gradations with tablet pressure controlling size
- unlimited brush size (no longer limited to 100 pixels) - now only limited by your patience, larger brushes are slower
- accidental browser close detection - if you try to navigate away from the page or close the browser, it warns and asks you first, before allowing you to do so
- fixed bug with gradient tool creating unwanted artifacts

new features v0.757:
- lascaux window blank on start should be fixed
- bunch of glitches with fractional brush sizes fixed
- brush size display is simpler and now shows decimal for fractional brush sizes
- default brush style is now 'soft'

I only ever use lascaux anymore.

If there's going to be fractional sizes, will there be a different method of selecting the size? Sometimes it takes a few moments to get it to land exactly on the size I want, especially in the single digits. If I want something like a size 5 it might pop back and forth between 4 and 6 a bit before I get it to finally rest on 5. So I'm imaging the fractional sizes flying all over and being too touchy to easily select just by dragging the brush size in or out from the center?

curious though, why is it you want exactly 5 pixels?

I'm a scow user Cello and the thought of smaller brushes makes my hair flutter. I'll be a tester for you. :)

... Sweetcell.. dare I ask for I find ignorance as bliss :"P but what's a scow user? and I would like to test this as well, Marcello.. I may not draw that much but I would like to help :")

I normally use brushes between 1-12 and low opacities and flows. It's not so much that I want exactly 5 pixels on a regular basis, but anything in the lower single digits is good for detail work and a little difficult to get it to settle on just the right number for whatever I'm drawing. While other people might use the same brush for most of a picture, I'm constantly changing the opacity, flow, and brush size.

I've been meaning to try the mac tablet support for a while now, so that may make it easier to get smaller sizes. I've used the windows tablet support in the past though.

Shanghai : whenever I want a certain brush size, I just zoom in really big on the canvas. Consequently the brush goes bigger too, so it is easier to select that particular size you want. But you probably already know this.

Although the size of the cursor's brush is bigger that does not mean that the pixel your painting on is any bigger. You've zoomed in and your brush has adjusted to the size accordingly. Basicly when Marcello says 1.5 pixel size.. that means you'll be able to get that much finer of a line with the brush with much less effort. It's a Very good thing and I'd welcome the upgrade with arms open and a big ol Tennessee hello! and some whiskey.

Unwanted, I know the pixel size on the painting doesn't get bigger. I zoom to get the exact brush size I want.

you can also hold shift to make it do half size, and [ and ] make the brush bigger/smaller
