We're going to try a new system of voting for what contest idea gets picked next. Everyone can make one suggestion per contest week, which usually runs for a about 2 weeks before the next contest, and everyone gets to make one vote.

Ideas for contests will be posted in this thread, and when enough ideas have been made then we'll start a new round of voting to get ready for the next contest.

For the current voting round we'll have these 10 to choose from.

1. Extreme Foreshortening
using the technique of foreshortening in the image

2. War
images of war, either historical or not

3. Alphabet Illustrations
illustrate a letter from the alphabet using something that begins with the letter you draw

4. Hair
draw people with an emphasis on their hair, or with creative types of hair

5. Turtles

6. Portraits
portraits, presumably of people

7. Insects
bugs!

8. Abstract self-portrait
a portrait of yourself drawn abstractly

9. Monochrome
make a drawing either without any color or with only one color

10. Member portraits
draw portraits of other members based on photos, either that have been posted in the past or that people will post for this contest

Contest suggestion: Alphabet Illustrations: Illustrate a letter from the alphabet based on a word that starts with that letter. The letter and the word must be recognizable in the illustration. Example: The letter B in the likeness of a Bunny. Example: The letter J in the likeness of Jello.

Suggestion:Hair! Hair is one of the most interesting things to draw and found difficult by so many people. SO many creative things can be done with real hair, how a bout we see what we can do on the old oekaki applets and such. It can be a normal picture as long as the hair is given noticeable attention or it can be completely creative and wild, like a person with spaghetti or pipe cleaners or even grass for hair.

Anyway think about it, I really like this idea.

I did try to add a short description because some ideas can't be summed up with just one or two words, but a few of the ideas are so self explanatory that I couldn't think of how else to describe them. So vote for whatever one you want right here and we'll be able to move on to a new contest in the next couple of days.

shrug. turtles are cool. I think a lot of people could draw turtles in interesting ways. I mean, if you get down to what the whole purpose of the contest is and all... to get people to draw stuff. and how an idea that sounds cool doesn't necessarily equate to cool art and whatnot.

It's interesting how a couple of the "turtle voters" haven't been on 2draw in months and yet, they've both come out of hiding just recently and both of them voted for Marcello's contest suggestion. What a coincidence.

even if you knock down turtles by 2 votes it'd be tied 5-5 with abstract self portrait, and I saved my own vote to use as a tie breaker if needed. I happen to be biased against self portraits in any form because I loathe drawing my own portrait, so I would have voted for turtles in such a tie.
