Hey all,

I just wanted to give a heads up that I am looking to experiment a little with advertising on 2draw. I'm going to say for starters that I am not a fan of advertising, and this is more of an experiment than anything else. 2draw is not currently a commercial site, but if it can manage to break even, I think that is a worthwhile effort.

Please post your thoughts/rants/issues with advertising here, as I would like to hear your feedback (positive or negative). Also let me know if it causes any huge averse problems on the site.

Again, this is more of a trial run/experiment than something I will necessarily (or want to) keep long term.

In my opinion as long as it does not have pop-ups all over the place when someone is trying to draw, should not matter. Right now I see adds for cds and looks fine. Is this the only page we will see the adds?

Whatever it takes to keep the place running....

We should have a bake sale. Well sell premade baked goods but out of the box just like shop and stop does.

there won't be any popups or obnoxious ads. if you spot any, let me know (and take a screenshot).

For me its a really good idea, I haven't seen any ads around 2draw right now, only in here and the message boards and such....:D
I say its a good idea of the ads, as long if it helps to keep the place running, and like my friend Pantera says as log it doesn't bother us from drawing.......>:D

I used to appreciate 2draw because unlike deviantART, it didn't have shrunken windows due to ads, but my little sanctuary has been invaded.

WHAT I THINK you should do is put the ads all the way at the bottom so it's not as noticeable.

I don't mind the ads. In fact if I didn't already have a tablet, I would have clicked the amazon ads that showed tablets and their prices.
These kind of ads are cool, and not distracting like the ones with the classmates or whatever, or the vitural doll maker thing, or the smileys, those annoy the heck outta me!

on a side note, for those curious, if you buy anything from amazon through the referral button, 4% goes to 2draw (the price is identical to regular amazon.com).

I dunno, I've always been stoked that 2draw hasn't had ads. But yeah, whatever it takes to keep the site up. And what you've put up so far is tasteful and relevant and pretty minimal so I'm okay with that.

I will be running them about 3-4 weeks, then decide what to do from there.

Like what most people said so far. As long as there are no flashy adds, and it keeps this fine Sanctuary known as 2draw going, I am for it. This website is such a great place, a peacefull place. And if the adds support art, then why not? I did not even know about Tablets until I talked to DBA. So these kinds of adds are great I think.

The way you have it right now looks fine to me. I don't see any problem with it. Whatever keeps you up and running is aaaaall good. :}

I think you deserve to at least break even! Plus it is good to have related ads, it might be helpful.

It doesn't bother me at all, except that it makes me feel guilty that I had to spend my money on other important stuff and didn't send in my donation. (and other not so important stuff like running away from home for a week with my dog) I'm riddled with guilt already, and these things just weigh on my conscience when I see them, but I'll prolly get over it. *Sigh* :)
