Showcase entry!
Sweetcell (May 19, 2006)
Preliminary sketch.

EDIT:Done and done, me am so happy.

For those wondering what the curved and straight lines are on the top and sides those are the cross bars that hold the glass in the window frame. Cheers.

I preliminarily like the preliminary idea.
SYTHE (May 20, 2006)
The lines need to be blacker, are you going to have light shining through it?
Sweetcell (May 20, 2006)
ah ah ah, prelim sythe, the lines will be blacker, (bluer in the ref but I think it's because of the light) that will be shining through it. *smoochies* and big soft porn *hugs*

I think I'm getting there, critique is welcome.

Oh, and your welcome Sythe. *squishy*, cause they are. ;)

waters looking good. did you know in the gothic period, stain glass became so important in Religious pictures since light through glass symbolises how Christ passed through the Virgin Mary.
Sufiroyce (May 21, 2006)
Did not know that and this.... Looks more and more like real staind glass lookin good.
Sweetcell (May 21, 2006)
Huh, I know it's important to Religion (who hasn't been in a church and not looked at the stained glass) but all my Catholic life and I never heard of that. Well this isn't as heavy on the symbolism, less you literally take the water as the source of life and the lighthouse a beacon of God....

Oi, too heavy for me, going to look at the other pics.
tandrew971 (May 23, 2006)
this is pretty already..it will be very beautiful finished
frootcake (May 24, 2006)
yea although quite a lot of gothic art is kinda crappy, it had some of the most visionary artists who managed to get the ball rolling towards the renaissance. Tis good stuff, worth a read. Just ask if you want some random knowledge :)
Sweetcell (May 27, 2006)
Random knowledge frootcake... whats the square root of pi... on a Sunday.... while your eating lobster..... in a cornfield?...um... cause that's where you get lobster... ya.

Hazzah, finally done. I can breath a sigh of relief another one out of my studio. Me so happy.

Thank you Maiko and Marcello for the extra space.
101_Torchic_101 (Jul 3, 2006)
(0_o) It actually looks..pretty real! I like it.
davincipoppalag (Jul 3, 2006)
It really does look like stained glass! Love it!
wboyer (Jul 3, 2006)
I think you really got the style of the stained glass window down pat... And I must say that I really think you captured the feel of stained glass the best in the water... The over-dodging is what makes it work, so maybe try that on the other surfaces of the picture...

Really awesome work :D
concannon (Jul 3, 2006)
Looks remarkably like actual glass (and I say this as someone who has a mother who's hobby is stained glass) - brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
Sweetcell (edited Jul 3, 2006)
Thanks Poppa, Torchic, and V V. So appreciate it.

wboyer what do you think I used? Dodge and burn and sharp. This picture is done so I won't be going back to it.
wboyer (Jul 3, 2006)
Hey... Chill out, dude... Can you please read my comment again and NOT get so defensive? It was most noticeable on the water, is all.

When someone tries to give you constructive criticism, take it with a smile and try not to be an asshole. I meant no harm in saying what I felt about this piece.
JACster (Jul 3, 2006)
Wow... I gotta say, I'm impressed. Not something I'd try off hand, but If I wanted to do something different, you know? I espically like the stones and the water. :)
Sweetcell (edited Aug 12, 2006)
I always take constructive critisism lovey, when needed, thank you.

Thank you Jac, maybe in the future you can try.

colls (Jul 4, 2006)
I always liked Stainglass windows. :-) Pretty.
Airin (Jul 4, 2006)
the different styles of stained glass is what has my attention, the frame is interesting too..
Sweetcell (Jul 4, 2006)
Thanks colls, Airin. Appreciate it.
tandrew971 (Jul 8, 2006)
this turned out wonderful. i think my favorite part is the water
Sweetcell (Jul 10, 2006)
The water looks better in V4, if I could go back and darken it a bit I would. And the turquois is too dark, and there's something about that lighthouse that's just not right. The boat's look better in V3 and that sun... uck. *sigh* I'm picky. Picky picky.

Thank you Tiffany. ;)
tandrew971 (edited Jul 10, 2006)
i love how it seems like the light is really coming through (in v.5) and i dont see anything wrong with the lighthouse the whole thing looks good. showcase good! :) congrats..
Sweetcell (Jul 10, 2006)
Thanks Tiff, I'm just picky. X)
TammyF (Jul 11, 2006)
I love the way you used the dodge tool to give it a worn look!! It adds to the realistic feel of the piece!! My own personal feeling is that sometimes true art is about the imperfections. I'm sure that as an artist you have noticed that nature itself throws in imperfections to intrigue and sharpen the senses and increase our curiosity. This piece is fantastic!! I really feel as though I am looking at a stained glass window and can see the light gently pushing through and then with a bit more force in the spots where age has caught up and left it's own mark!!
Miss_DJ (Jul 15, 2006)
Congratulations on the showcase, Sweetcell!! Super! I love the light in this...what a nice draw!
Italia (Aug 30, 2006)
