Hey, you've got talent, you've got skills, but have you got what it takes to teach?

2draw.net is starting a call for tutorials, and that means you, the artist, can show everyone your moves!

We're looking for artists and members of 2draw.net to contribute tutorials on topics ranging from sketching and anatomy techniques to coloring, shading, and texturing, to styles, such as manga, realism, painterly, and so on. If it has to do with art, and you want to talk about it, we want to hear about it!

Where to post? We've made up a handy starting point for User Tutorials in the wiki, all you have to do is make a new page and start writing!

So help your fellow 2drawer improve and expand his or her knowledge. Don't be shy, show us your stuff!

Happy writing!

coloring style? lineart walkthrough? It could be something short and simple (like 3~4 steps).

I would love to do a lineart/shading/colouring cel-style walkthrough, but i have no idea how to use wiki syntax, and I'm afraid method3's guide didn't help me much. If someone could help me out with that, that would be great!

Wiki syntax is basically just text for the most part. I posted some more information on the wiki syntax here: http://cellosoft.com/2draw/wiki/index.php/Basic_Editing
If you have any specific questions, feel free to post them.

marcello (edited Apr 10, 2006)
Also updated method3's guide, so it should be a little more helpful.
xiang: maybe some tips/tricks on using the applets?
  icon
xiang (Apr 10, 2006)
Uh, I don't really know any tips/ tricks. ^^;
Maybe I could do something on perspectives?

This sounds like a lot of fun. I think that manga tut idea sounds awesome. Of course, i have no experience with a manga, so I couldn't make one.

Maybe we should make tuts for people who want tips with anime? :O (ex: Eyes, hair etc.)

Who is going to do the tutorial on sarcasm??
  icon
Shoebox (edited Apr 10, 2006)
Well it's not going to be me now, is it? Oooh, of course not, it couldn't be Shoebox!

No, really... I'm serious. Sorry if it seemed sarcastic.

Xod should do one on proper drawing etiquette.
  icon
xiau (Apr 10, 2006)
I'd love to make one~

Only problem is, I'm not exactly good enough at what I do to make a tutorial. And it's not like I have anything in particular I'm really good at (like coloring, linearting, shading, etc) to make one on, either.

I guess I'll take a while to think about it and see if anything comes to mind.

Ok, I posted a very simple tip to give you guys an idea how simple stuff you post can be (it's just a screenshot and a paragraph or so):
http://cellosoft.com/2draw/wiki/index.php/Lascaux_Tips_and_Tricks

Feel free to add tips or tricks to that page, too. Just click edit.

I'll go do research for both of these tomorrow. I really wanna help and contribute to this site.

I wrote an article about dealing with critcism, and I know there's one already about criticizing, so... I'll go write something else and add it later.

For the most part, don't be scared about "screwing something up". Just post what you feel like posting, hopefully someone will be around to change/add/fix stuff. I think at this point it may be more important just to get a ton of stuff up there so people have something to read.

BTW, I changed a bunch of sh**. Heh, check it out, flame and what not, etc.

Color theory guide updated/created-
http://cellosoft.com/2draw/wiki/index.php/Color

It's still in progress, I've been working on it yesterday and today. There's still plenty of information I can add, and it can certainly be reorganized/formatted into something with a better flow. At some point here I'll add a part on tinted light, reflections of color (colors/light of one object reflecting onto nearby objects under certain lighting conditions), and stuff like that unless someone else wants to do it.

wheres the java tutiolas?

I think this tutorial-thing is a very important element of a drawcollective... I was playin in my mind with to start such a collective; Mainly because i was dissapointed in most drawsites. They didnt draw fluently or there were no options. Some were good, like "youdraw.com", but thats only because on this site the rule "less is more" seems to work out fine. Java-groupboards are fun: Have chat and replay-option, but thats it. I dont understand how collab works on this site. (Maybe someone can tell me?) I used to play "bombtheworld.net" aswell: This is a site where you can paint a virtual train with a timelimit: Sure is fun if you like doing letters and enjoy the pressure, but lately that site errors on my mac. It does have a forum and a chat, which is good, but its purely orientated on graffiti and will bore artists that do other work. About the tutorials: I did give workshops graff and i do have some info bout typography and graffiti. My English isnt too good and i noticed that cyberslang isnt appreciated here, so im not sure if i could live up to expectations,.. Anyways... just to let you know,.. I could translate a scripture "perspective" i did for school few years ago,.. but.. glad you guys already got that part!.. One more thing: A few visual examples of what happens when you use brushes in relation to certain settings: Squares with textures combined with info about diffusion, intensity, spacing, flow. A picture of the effect will explain more then 12 written lessons.... Aah well,.. I already like the site they way it is,. so.. its just feedback in reply on the chosen topic... Greetz from the Netherlands!
