I can't figure out what it is I like about this, because nothing about this is what I'm usually drawn to... but something about the colors, the style... it's really intriguing to look at.

Hmm, I think you should either darken up the background or use stronger colors on the creature himself. Right now, the creature seems to kind of blend right into the neutral background (probably because the creature has mostly neutral looking colors himself), instead of popping out as the main focus.

i like that he doesnt stand out from the background..i think thats why i keep coming back to look at it. to figure out exactly what and where he is within the composition of the piece. although its easy to discern once you look for a moment, its the fact that you have to pause at all that i enjoy. if that makes any sense. probably not.

That makes perfect sense to me, actually, and it explains why I like it. It's sort of like looking out a fuzzed up window in the springtime with raindrops on it.
