I remember seeing that Aviator one before, Lycene, that's quite good. Not too many actually do that style well, Noremac, well done. |

IkariIreuL (Oct 7, 2005)
yeah some people always try to do their best, everytime.
SneakyWalter (Oct 7, 2005)
Well how about some of your current best?
Gigandas (Oct 7, 2005)
My art teacher always told us, "Don't fall in love with your artwork."
Kloxboy (Oct 7, 2005)
I agree Gig. I'm not in love with Marcello or anything, I just like the process I used making that piece, so I think that's my best piece. It's free and drawn from life (via web cam).

HunterKiller_ (Oct 7, 2005)
My art teacher always told us, "Don't fall in love with your artwork."
Why is that? |
Gigandas (edited Oct 7, 2005)
It means she wanted us to practice and get good enough with the process of getting these quality results so that you can produce them anytime, anywhere as opposed to a "I got lucky with this one/I wouldn't be able to pull this off again." She wanted us to get so good someone could tear up one of your pieces (assuming it's one of your better ones) and you could just say "no problem" and draw another one, no sweat.
HunterKiller_ (Oct 7, 2005)
She wanted us to get so good someone could tear up one of your pieces (assuming it's one of your better ones) and you could just say "no problem" and draw another one, no sweat. No matter how good i get, if somebody tore up my artwork i would gut them, simple as that. =] |
Kloxboy (Oct 7, 2005)
What some teachers don't understand is that you must keep all your work, good or bad. You can see your progression that way. I think the point is, when you're still in school, don't put your student pieces on a pedestal.
TaCO (Oct 8, 2005)
My memories are in my art. Every picture captures an old feeling or idea, sometimes I can remember a whole day from one pic. If someone were to tear up my art or even joke about It, I would be very mad. And It's very very hard to make me mad.
marcello (Oct 8, 2005)
Sounds like it's pretty easy to make you mad, just tear up something you drew. ;)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Oct 8, 2005)
Clox is right, although my older stuff sometimes makes me shudder, especially the stuff here because I can't rip it off the wall, unframe it and shove it in a closet. You can borrow my buck knife, hunter.
IkariIreuL (Oct 8, 2005)
yeah you can end up like that --> [\\\\\]

SneakyWalter (edited Oct 8, 2005)
Don't anger the HunterKiller, Marcello, his name suggests a punishment that is not pleasant. ;)
Well FINE THEN, post here what you think is one of your good ones, you silly people. http://cellosoft.com/2draw/view/55156/ |

Menyway (edited Oct 9, 2005)
I agree with Gig and Cloxboy, If you love your art as it is you will never get better at it for you are happy with the quality that it is at, and will never try to become greater. So when you draw something, you may like it durring the process of drawing it but when you are done with it and have done more drawings you look back and think "man that sucks, i could have done so much better" So in a way It is better to not hate per say but dislike it so that you will always push yourself to become more than you are at this time.... well as least it is that way with me... ^_^
Well anyway here is my best that i have done yet...but of course i could have done so much better! ^_~ http://cellosoft.com/2draw/view/49574/ |
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Oct 9, 2005)
HunterKiller isn't a hunter, he wants to kill the hunter... which puts us at odds where that's concerned... I hate most of the stuff I've ever done, because I see where it could have been better, but the one that I surprised myself with is this one: http://cellosoft.com/2draw/view/25083/ the eyes are the window to the soul and I didn't overthink that one... I was feeling something and I think it came across, which rarely happens for me
SneakyWalter (Oct 9, 2005)
Well you don't have to like ANY of your art to know which one was best or one of your better ones.
That's a really good eye, DBA. What about some of that bullrider art? "I want a pleasant punishment" sounds wrong and/or gross. |

http://cellosoft.com/2draw/view/37799/ Couldn't decide between the two. I felt that the first one was down with alot of effort and it really turned out the way I wanted it to! The second one was drawn for someone whom I really cared about so I was emotionally attached to that. =/ Theres prolly other good pictures in my userboard, but I thought these were the best. |

good choices, im sure the masquerade will win the contest hands down. i also vote showcase for it
kristine (Nov 27, 2005)
how does the whole showcase thing voting thing work anyways?
and i dont think it'll get showcase, the compression demolished it. |
Noremac (Nov 27, 2005)
well its not actually a vote, a mod has to like it enough to stick it on there. im just saying i would stick it on there if i was a mod. the hair is amazing
