"Even as the Nazgul had swerved aside from the onset of the White Rider, there came flying a deadly dart, and Faramir, as he held at bay a mounted champion of Harad, had fallen to the earth. Only the charge of Dol Amroth had saved him from the red southland swords that would have hewn him as he lay.
The Prince Imrahil brought Faramir to the White Tower, and he said: 'Your son has returned lord, after great deeds,' and he told all that he had seen. But Denethor rose and looked on the face of his son and was silent."
From "The Seige of Gondor," Book V of The Return of the King, part III of The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

I'd hate to do the MLA citation for that one. Anyway, this is my favorite scene from all of my favorite books. It's very well written. You start to feel for Denethore and he becomes more faceted. Don't get me started on the movie version. . . in my opinion they completely butchered this part. They replaced Imrahil with a bloody horse! *grumble grumble* Anyway, I'll spare you my diatribe. Denethor and Imrahil are next.
Referenced from a drawing I did in one of my sketch books (it looks so much better there).

Wow that's cool, and it sounds ambitious. You know after reading all the books and then going to see the movie I was completely lost! I had no idea what was happening sometimes, I was beginning to wonder whether I had read a different version or something.

Mm, yes, I'm starting the third book soon and I cannot wait for Faramir's part. Yesss... He's like, my favorite character. >> Teehee. I can't wait to see this finished. What I think is great about this is it really looks like they're holding him. :D Nice!

ARROW-ED!
>__o Meh. Why can I never get proportions right? Faramir's tiny compared to everyone else in the picture. . . . I hereby invoke the powers bestowed upon me by my artistic license. From now on Faramir is short . . . just like me . . . 'cept cooler.
anarie (Sep 27, 2005)
XDD Yay for short people! <3 I can NOT wait to see this finished. <3

Why did I ever think I would have enough patience to paint chain mail?

o.O Yes! I love Eisman's art! Her use of watercolor is absoltely amazing. I'm thrilled that someone has compared me to her. ;.;*so happy*

Edit: Out of space. DX Which mod should I approach about getting extra space?
anarie (edited Sep 29, 2005)
I'd say Maiko, furyofroy, or you could try Marcello... XD

I love Faramir's face. Lovely work so far. I hope you get more space. :D

edit: looks like you got more room. <3 Good luck finishing!

My god. I suck at backgrounds. This, sadly, was the best I could come up with. I think I totally ruinined the picture with that background. >___<
I wish I could have come up with something better. I really am disapointed with how this came out.
thesolarwinds (Oct 1, 2005)
it looks good.. but your grays kind of blend together... kind of monotone... maybe adding more white to them?
i dunno.. but i really love this and still think it looks like eisman's work. very nice.
