I'm running away to different city for a few days. I don't really know where but I'm leaving and I hope there is a chance that I can come back to my home. Most likey, where I live, we'll get little or no damage by Rita but they are 100% percent our light and water is being cut off. I'm really gonna miss my friends and family. I hope the boba tea place will be saved.

Just what am I gonna do without the INTERNETZ?!

wish me luck.

Sorry about your situation, I hope things are ok for you afterwards. Just be glad you're not completely retarded and try to wait it out for some dumb reason.

i think its about time to stick it too the man, i appreciate that they are looking into evacuating... but damn, last few years they have had plans and drill to deal with this kinda crap, but APPARENTLY no one put them into action :\ ...god damn the man, god damn him. time to write a rock song.

DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 22, 2005)
Be safe, Anna. They say we are supposed to have up to 80 mph winds here, even, and we are 5 hours from the coast. Our state troopers in this area are on call to go down there to work this thing, think my little brother will be going. :( Hurricanes blow.
  icon
Kasha (Sep 22, 2005)
wow yeah, it sucks. I didn't realize that so many other people from here are gonna leave as well. I'm going towards Dallas and staying with my aunt at her ranch. I really worried about the heavy traffic on the way up. I think by the time I get there the hurricane will be over. HA.

good luck to everyone else. I'll pray for you guys.

peace.

sincity (Sep 22, 2005)
Well I'm Glad I saw this thread. I've been wondering how you all have been fairing. Who is staying ,and who is going. Be safe and I hope all goes well for those of you leaving.
Good point axil. Some one needed to say it. :}

davincipoppalag (Sep 22, 2005)
I'll be praying for you guys...nobody needs that kind of trouble.
  icon
Kasha (Sep 22, 2005)
Hey guys, I just wanted to update you on how things are going over here. The traffic here in Houston is really bad. People are moving 1 mph oh the roads and we haven't even left yet. I don't even think Dallas is a safe place to go anymore. We're planning on going towards San Antonio but I don't think that's really gonna do any good because at this rate by Saturday we would have only moved around 50-60 miles. It's not enough. If I'm going to die I'd rather die in my house rather than on roads with flipped over cars piled on one another and hard rain pouring on me.

so yeah....I'm pretty much dead.
  icon
featherstone (Sep 22, 2005)

you're all in my prayers
  icon

I'm praying for all of you there. Kasha.. take Cindy up on her offer!
  icon
Anna (Sep 22, 2005)
Kasha! I hope you can get somewhere safe and soon! Call Cindy! You'll be in my prayers. <3

As for me, we still are told to evacuate. However, when we got up this morning with plans to hit the road, we saw that Rita took a turn northward further away from Corpus. So, we're staying put.

Thanks for everyone's prayers and thoughts for us Texans.
  icon
Gigandas (Sep 22, 2005)
DBA-You shoulda sent her your number in a memo instead of posting it publicly :P.

As for everyone in Texas (including DBA), hope you guys all come out okay. I hope we don't get a rerun of New Orleans over in Texas too (according to cnn.com, says if the intensity keeps up, it'll be worse than Katrina... :( )
  icon
method3 (Sep 22, 2005)
I heard they have a storm named after me now, and that if there continues to be more they will have to name them with greek letters. Fun stuff, glad I don't live anywhere close to that stuff. Evacuation must be crazy if you can get out at all!
  icon
Mafuyu (Sep 22, 2005)
Aww, I hope all of you who have to evacuate come back to an unscathed home.
I just recently had to evacuate from Katrina, myself. Well, good luck~
  icon
TaCO (edited Sep 22, 2005)
Hope you all come out ok.
I hate to see this happen to Texas after how nice they been to my fellow Cajuns & Louisianians.

St. landry has a voluntary evactuation order, but i'm staying.
No work till Monday!!!!

Our governor had the power to declare martial law
False. Louisiana constitution does not allow martial law, Or something like that.

Those of us in LA. know who screwed up this disaster.
Yes we do. Ower state and local Government really sucks. Anything bad you hear about Louisiana Goverment is an understatement.

I'm really starting to hate LA news, they tell you nothing. I don't trust local news anymore.

Does that override the state constitution???
The gov tried to declare martial law, but then they weren't sure If she had the power to do so.
But I heard that on local t.v.

The Gov. is a nice lady but she dosen't have the qualifications to handle being a Gov.

The fact that she seems to be a "nice lady" immediately disqualifies her to be an effective leader, lots of people are going to hate me for this but I don't think women have any business in politics.

And... here we go... I have family that lives right on the beach and some 40 miles or so from the beach, some in Houston and they are headed up to the ranch.
  icon
Gigandas (Sep 24, 2005)
Maybe this calls for a beach party over in Cali :P (with all the evacuees).

Shanghai (Sep 24, 2005)
I'm not saying I have an opinion on it, but it might help to know why you don't think women should be in politics.

Also that really wasn't me posting before, I just don't feel like deleting it (an maiko would just make me post it again anyays) XP
  icon
Maiko (Sep 24, 2005)

DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Sep 24, 2005)
Don't you know anything!!!??? Because women belong in the kitchen and in the bedroom, dayamn. LOL just kidding

I can get away with saying this, because I am a woman. (and a helluva one at that...)
Seriously, I don't believe women have the psyche it takes to lead in politics, I think (know) we are more emotional and we think differently. Men do it best, and that's all there is to it. Just like I can shoot better than most men I know but I'm not stupid enough to think I can lift as much as they can and I know I have no business in a fox hole. Women are dead weight where politics and war are concerned.

damn, I didn't die.

well, We all thought we were a direct hit but for some odd reason it headed up north around the last min. Our power didn't even go out and we're on the highest ground in Houston. The worse damage we got was having my sisters kids stay with us.

ps. Thank you Cindy for the offer :) haha, I didn't get it till now because I had to pack my computer. You=awesome.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Sep 24, 2005)

  icon
Anna (Sep 25, 2005)
:-D Glad you're back! And alive! Same here, everyone and their mother evacuated and we didn't even get one drop of rain. Nor any wind. It's just regular ol' South Texas heat and humidity.
  icon
marcello (Sep 25, 2005)
dba: but that's a pretty rash generalization over all women.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 25, 2005)
Yes, it is. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. I could also go into the "wives obey your husbands, (I rarely do what mine tells me to, but anyway).... women should remain silent in the church,....numerous other things that will light a fire under everybody's britches, but since I know I'm right, I feel no need to debate the subject.

HAH.

(You're quite welcome, Kasha, you can still come visit if you wanna. :)

Power is back on!!!!!!!

I never seen rain fall up before.
And I never seen It flood that much before.
It rained for way more than 24hours.
My yard had a foot and 1/2 of water, and I live on high ground.

On the plus side my car Is really clean.

I don't believe women have the psyche it takes to lead in politics
Uh NO
I strongly disagree
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Sep 26, 2005)
I was wondering why that took so long, I was beginning to think something was wrong around here. Of course you have the right to disagree, and I respect your opinion. but I'm still right! :)

edit: oh yeah, and it's either I have never seen or I never saw

When someone brings up a debate about something like this, I think really there's only 2 (black and white) sides and no amount of talk will convince someone to really see the issue from the other side. Therefore, no point in even wasting time trying to discuss.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 26, 2005)
"Girls are different than boys" is debatable? HAHA
  icon
method3 (Sep 26, 2005)
Don't be asinine DBA, I meant the debate about woman not being suitable for political office. I think it's obvious by the comments by Derrick and Axil that it's not really something that can be discussed easily, people have their opinions and that's that.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 26, 2005)
I'm not stupid, I understood exactly what you meant. It was a joke. hello!
(I never intended to start a serious debate here, nor to solve all of the problems of the world. I think it's quite futile to try to debate things here at all. I was having a little fun, s'all)
  icon
featherstone (Sep 26, 2005)
yeah, since when can we not be foolish around here? :P
  icon
method3 (Sep 26, 2005)
I also understood that you meant is as a joke obviously, however it's still being asinine, ie "Utterly stupid or silly: asinine behavior." Also, nothing stops you from being "foolish around here," otherwise the post would have been deleted. Take it as you will.
  icon
Gigandas (Sep 26, 2005)
Since the time there was confusion when certain mods said this site is about having fun and others would get all serious I guess ;).

And I dunno if the rain really cleans your car. It usually wets it, and then debris and dirt fly onto it, and it just gets dirtier in certain cases. If not that, you have water drop prints all over your windshield which sucks hard...
  icon
marcello (Sep 26, 2005)
each drop of rain has a speck of dust in it...
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Sep 26, 2005)
Asinine can also be construed as meaning "of or relating to an ASS". Thank you very much for clarifying to me that I was being silly, when I already knew it. I was being silly on PURPOSE, which is one reason why I made all of the above comments so far to one side, in case that wasn't clear as well. (Actually, I was being a bit of an ass on purpose, as well, so good call!)

Just one speck?
  icon
Gigandas (Sep 26, 2005)
Doesn't mean the wind can't blow more dirt onto it :). (Which has happened to my car too many times to count...)

Axil62 (edited Oct 6, 2005)

  icon
marcello (Sep 26, 2005)
nope, every single drop has exactly one speck of dust in it. if two drops collide, one of the specks vanishes. and if one breaks into smaller drops, new specks magically appear in the smaller drops.

And I dunno if the rain really cleans your car
It was raining really hard, and I got up to 80MPH winds, but thats with the gust.
And I drove really fast on the flooded roads.

Well my car Is clean on the outside, but I got water on the inside so now stinks.
And It got rid of the new car smell.

I wish I would of had a kite.
It's fun outside during a hurricane, but It hurts when It rains.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 26, 2005)
That crankshaft thing would be good in an episode of "Jackass"... kinda like the hotwheel one. Derrick, hon, don't drive fast on flooded roads, you'll hydroplane and kill yourself.
  icon
TaCO (Sep 27, 2005)
My car has water tires.
I love my tires, they Rule!!!!!!
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Sep 27, 2005)
My truck has great tires, too, but you can still hydroplane and kill yourself. Don't drive fast when it's raining and don't talk back. Go to the corner.
