Some pop I can listen to but most of it makes my ears bleed.

Thats what you get when you listen to Brittany Spears, back street boys and hanson. :goes of to chill with a little 311, Metallica, 3rd Strike and Offspring:

You had the volume on too high that's why! Nice expression.

311, Metallica, 3rd Strike and the Offspring aren't really that different from Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, and Hanson. :P They're just mass-produced in a different way, and marketed to a different audience.

Mmm, solids. <3 You rock, Clox. There's quite a bit of good pop out there, but you have to dig.

Wrong The Offspring kicks ass. That guy's listening to Christian pop music.

the offspring is just pop rock. They used to be more punk, but they've changed. Im not saying they're bad now. I mean they do have some cool catchy songs, but really they aren't much different. Most people will argue the same thing about lots of bands that started out small and hardcore, but evolved and write catchy popular songs that become number one hits. People then claim they sold out. Like Metallica. I think it's only bad when they do it for the money. But I dont think there are many cases where just because the music changes and becomes popular, money becomes the only thing that drives the band.

Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears don't write their own music. They aren't musicians, and consequently comparing them to 311, Metallica or Offspring is comparing apples and oranges.

I can empathize Clox, although around here it's usually due to the cheesy R&B one of my roommates plays.
