Drawn this hand on iSketch, artpad, and on paper, now I'm doing it here. No, I'm not angry, just practicing drawing that gesture. I'll colour it later. Any comments, suggestions?

its not bad. but your spaceing is a little off and no one can hold their finger like that if the hand is cuped , if they can i would think it would hurt after a few sec. hold your hand up like this and see the diffrences. you may want to try to bend it forward some to make it look more real over all its a lot beter then what i can draw a hand. also shading is good

Thanks darkshadow. I tried making it look more cupped...it seems to look more messy now though. I'm trying to draw the hand as a momentary flash of that gesture, taut and strong, not limp and half-hearted. What do mean by spacing? The space between the fingers and the proportions? I'll have to look at it after some time, been looking at it too long for now.

Edited forefinger.

whenever realism doesn't work just say it's a nice stylized hand . I like it this way. Perhaps it belongs with a comic? :)

i think v2 is the best of the 3 you have done and since you said it is a taut v2 works the best for me and yes i was talking a bout the spacing of the fingers the proportins of the hand. the only think i feel may need some tuching up is how long the middle finger is. good luck on it. also good job on keeping the shading and palm lines looking right.

Okay, I'm not sure how to edit proportions...it seems to look okay to me? Except maybe the thumb, but I'm a bit sick of this now. The forefinger has to be bent, I positioned my hand like that and it seems natural that the finger is at an angle. Kasha, yes, it is quite comic-ish. Most of my draws are. I can't do realism. On this version...ack...it looks worse with colour. The colouring isn't done, I was playing around but it was getting messed up, so I was going to try and submit it as hidden, but couldn't... How come little black spots turn up when I'm trying to colour? And why doesn't it let me go over one colour with another colour without turning the original colour black? Is there any way I can go back to the uncoloured version?

The thumb looks a bit odd, but I'm quite proud of it overall. I don't really do backgrounds, so I declare this Done =)

Danke, you two =). Someone else was saying the knuckles needed to be higher. I have to pay more attention when I'm drawing!

I still remember Miss Anna's drawing: http://cellosoft.com/2draw/view/33856/
Hehe, I always find middle finger drawings funny when they are drawn so well like yours and Anna's. <:)
