Livejournal is a site that hosts and manages web logs aka blogs aka online journals. You get an account then just post random crap... it's an interesting concept, yet many blogs are just plain pathetic.
As for the moody fox, I'm guessing it's an emoticon you can put on a journal entry.

wow! It's another fox! (Actually it's the first fox, but if you scroll down the page it looiks like the second one) i like foxes . . . they're pretty.
