emmamommalag (Jan 25, 2005)
Those are really cool! I like the space things in the second one. :)
davincipoppalag (Jan 25, 2005)
I like em too. Is photoshop expensive?
inatyrb (Jan 25, 2005)
I think they're good. I like them. Hm.. I need to learn about photoshop more... Not sure what It is much...
seaanemone (Jan 25, 2005)
dude! those rawk! i love how you did them! you must do more!!! XD
bakuraiscool (Jan 25, 2005)
I WANT PHOTOSHOP!!! Yes, and do more! Even more! And then tell me where to get it!
Zack (Jan 25, 2005)
Adobe just came out with a new version (8.0) of it, which is listed at $649.00 on their website. Unused copies of the old version (7.0) seem to be going for around $100 on eBay at the moment.
StrawberryYamichan (Jan 25, 2005)
Dude those are so awesome! I wanna see more! Yay
Gigandas (edited Jan 25, 2005)
$649 for the new Adobe Photoshop???No matter how much I love drawing, I might as well get a big Marshall amp for that much money.....that's just crazy :P.
StrawberryYamichan (Jan 25, 2005)
I agree Gigandas! That is crazy!
marcello (Jan 25, 2005)
Wow you just wasted $650, cacau. on crappy drawings.
Zack (Jan 25, 2005)
Well, it is intended for professional use. The newest version of AutoCAD retails for over $1,000, in comparison. Photoshop 7.0 is still relatively available at this point and would be the much more value-oriented purchase.
StrawberryYamichan (Jan 25, 2005)
I have Adobe Photoshop. But actually, it's Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and it came with the $300 wacom tablet my sister got for her birthday so it's cool. Dude, Cacau, how much did you pay for your Photoshop?
kejoco (Jan 25, 2005)
Isn't anything adobe freeware???
no? In my world it is!!! Didn't know version 8 was out....I'll have to see about getting a copy |
Anna (Jan 25, 2005)
lolol, kejo!
sincity (Jan 25, 2005)
I already have Photoshop cs, ( 3rd time for similiar thread) About $650.0 is right. That is if you don't download it from someone for free.
davincipoppalag (Jan 25, 2005)
$650 bucks?? I had no idea..
mazi (Jan 25, 2005)
im with kejoco on this one. arrr.
photoshops so so so complicated, but im learning. im used to psp but im finally caving and giving into the fact that it compresses everything to death and renders like crapola. |
Hakkai (Jan 26, 2005)
Our school has PhotoShop, Illustrator, Go-live, Macromedia Studio MX, blah blah blah. It's pretty fun to do0dle here... well, exept when the mice and the mouse pads are filthy and lumpy. ~__~;
So I've been trying to pwn Photoshop little by little. This is what I have so far: Here. It's not too different from how I do0dle with Shi-painter. =] |
davincipoppalag (Jan 26, 2005)
Kai is the consummate doodler. Oh well, with the things you are saying about photoshop, and its complexity and cost, I guess I will forget that idea. I thought it might be nice to have something to draw offline with for when the net is in a booting mood.
marcello (Jan 26, 2005)
Check out openCanvas 1.1. It's freeware and I find it better than photoshop for drawing.
Hakkai (Jan 26, 2005)
OpenCanvas is okay. You should try it Dave. n__n
I personally don't like how the pencil tool lacks the option to change the flow or opacity, but thats just me. Mazi-ness, Mai, and 'Cello seem to like it. u__U; |
kejoco (Jan 26, 2005)
Believe me, photoshop is Incredible once you learn all the ins and outs of the program...
so many options and so much control |
marcello (edited Jan 26, 2005)
hakkai: you can change it with tablet pressure. And I seem to recall a way to change it otherwise. But frankly, I'm always online, sooo....
And on a side note, I've drawn quite a bit with photoshop, and dare to say I know the ins and outs of it quite well. But in my opinion, unless you're a professional photographer, it's not worth wasting you money on it just to draw. But to be frank, I couldn't really tell you what the best program for drawing is, out there, because I haven't found them. They all lack something (and I'm definitely including Lascaux in that set). |
clockworkkubrick (Jan 26, 2005)
I agree with marcello. *has a*coughfreecough*version7* It's not fantastic. I tried drawing with it a coupleof times, but haven't been able to produce anything noteworthy, even by my (crappy) standards. Plus, it's killer on your machine. I had to deal with it for ages in school...
Opencanvas1? I wish i had that.. for some reason, someone passed me version3. Beware! If your CPU has low memory or summat, it will perform illegal shutdowns at the least notice. It killed 5 of my canvases before I gave up. Th most annoying thing is the event caching, since this function happily corrupts your sourcefile when it performs said illegal shutdowns. It's a real pity... wish I could use it, since it's really fun and easy. But if all else fails, there's one program that most people have and is completely free....MS paint. XD~ |
kejoco (Jan 26, 2005)
As a straight forward drawing program photoshop alone probably isn't worth it. you really do need to use its photo editing capabilites to make it worth while. However, bundled together with illustrator and you're laffin!
davincipoppalag (Jan 26, 2005)
Well now I have mozilla and a cable connect, with lots more memory, I don't get booted out much, anyway. Ill stick to Lascaux. Thanks Marcello and the restovya.
HunterKiller_ (Jan 26, 2005)
lol their not bad caucau. You could try smooth out the lines a bit though, which isn't hard to do in php with all those different brushes, and a very good blur tool - which can be set to very low levels - unlike the lascaux one which does no blurring below 200 opacity lol.
marcello (Jan 26, 2005)
php is a programming language, not a drawing program.
Illustrator sucks for drawing. don't be fooled by the name, it's intended for graphic design. Vector-only graphics. If you want to do vector art, I highly recommend Macromedia Flash, it's actually rather good at it. |
Kloxboy (Jan 26, 2005)
I know where you can get many great programs for around $20.
http://www.warezstore.com/p/?letter=A And no, it's not illegal. |
Cacau (Jan 27, 2005)
Yeah 'cello, I wasted 100 dollars (I use Photoshop 7.0, I din´t even know that 8.0 exists XD) in crappy draws, but I want to get even better =D Pheraphs to do realistic draws, who knows.
mazi (Jan 27, 2005)
opencanvas is awesome. i love love love it. its awesome for things like this.
marcello (Jan 27, 2005)
Clox: actually, that is illegal. Technically even more illegal than downloading it for free, since they're making a profit off illegal software.
Loogie (Feb 20, 2005)
I just have photoshop elements 1.0 that came with my tablet, i didnt realize it was so expensive
marcello (Feb 21, 2005)
photoshop elements is the cheapo one. they made that to give away with scanners and tablets and the like.

this was one of my 1st serious attempts on ps after getting used to some of the stuff, but then i got bored n sloppy with it an kinda gave up on it. |
brainspiller83 (Feb 22, 2005)
photoshop is cheaper if get a pirate copy, or if you want to go through the legal side, you can get a student package cheaper than the non-student package. but still, pirate copies are alot cheaper. so they say!
marcello (Feb 22, 2005)
um. pirated copies are free. they're also illegal.
StrawberryYamichan (edited Feb 22, 2005)
'cello said somethin bout vector art up there and not to sound stupid but ive been wondering for the longest what is vector art?! if anyone can answer me, thank you very muchly.
TheCrimsonKing (Feb 22, 2005)
Deviant art definition..which they probably copied from somewhere else.
"Vector art consists of creating paths and points in a program such as Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, and Flash. These programs keep track of the relationships between these points and paths. Every time the image is scaled, the paths are regenerated: this creates images that are infinitely scalable without degradation." |
p3ndragon (Mar 2, 2005)
I acquired a *cough*free*cough* version of Photoshop CS.
It's quite nice. But to the topic creator: It really doesn't take any skill to spam the brushes, but you did get a nice convo going so meh. It's nice to have, and I should really start using it more often and get serious-er about my art.. Or something. Blah. Nighty night. |
Chaosz (May 1, 2005)
oooh i did one tooo XD XP! but very nice pictures Cacau

BlitzCloud (May 1, 2005)
in fact, like macromedia products, i think that they never expect every single usert buy it.
But this also means that they keep an eye on the companies. A webpage with a flash movie for example, for a compnay like sony, oranothers, they will see if they have registered it. If not, they can demand them. |
marcello (May 1, 2005)
adobe bought macromedia o_O
BlitzCloud (May 1, 2005)
i know it, cool i think, more ompatibility they say.... but im not sure about it
btw if adobe bought macromedia just mean, adobe is a colossus |

okee dokee I think you did alright for your first try with photoshop. You can create wonderful things with it with some practice. Here are some things I made in photoshop 7.0
