Because the shading is dark on one side, and light on the other, and they only have two colors, and both abruptly meet eachother in the center, it looks as if it is pointed like a facetyed crystal...
And she looks a bit crazy, too. ^_^

the shading wouldn't look like that if her ribcage was spherical. only if it was outwardly pointy.

Yah I see what they mean. Maybe if you blended into the other color softer or just didn't put the shading out so far.
