recently, I have been having a problem with Lascaux where it just quits working in mid draw. Where I cannot draw on the applet anymore. I check to make sure everything is set correctly, but it still doesnt draw. No elipses, Anti-Alas off, F and O at 255, layer is visable, so on so on, but it still does not draw. And it happens suddenly. Wondering why it was doing this and if anybody else was experiecneing this problem, or if it was just me. Anyways, thanks to anybody that posts to help out :)

There are lots of times when I thought it was messing up , but most of the time I was just drawing on an invisible layer. Though this problem did happen to me recently, I checkd to make sure evrythign was set corectly just as you did. What i do when this happens , I just submit as unfinished hidden then go back on it right afterwards.

My solution: Use the Shi-Painter :).

lol yeah, but I like Lascaux.. it rocks :).. shi is fun.. but im not crazy about it.. donno why, ive become accustome to Lascaux now. and Dagen, I checked for hidden layers. I only had one when I started and it still didnt work. The only layer I had was visable, but it still would not let me draw on it.. donno why though

Try Ctrl + D Sometimes a little selection is made.. probably accidentally... thus making nothing work on the canvas. Using that will undo that selection and it should work just fine. That's happened to me quite often. If that's not the fix for it... then something else is wrong.. and I don't know. Hope this helps. :-)

thanks anna.. ill try that, tho I think that only works if you hit the elipse button, and I re-read through all of my steps and it shows that i had not hit it, but i will check again if this happens. :)

try flipping between eraser (and erasing something) then undoing and switching back

I find Lascaux to be the nicest applet on here, but I still have the same kinds of troubles you are having. The applet locks up from time to time whether I've used the selection or other tools or not. On one picture I actually had the layers numbered 1, 2, 4, 4. The eraser trick has worked sometimes as has simply going back several steps and starting again from that point. Saving/posting the pic and then returning to edit it has worked on all but a couple of my drawings. But, if you're going over the limit and have to wait for more space, that's not always such a fun workaround.

Its weird though because when I was working or revising one of my pictures just now, the problem never occurs, but just when I start a new picture does Lascaux poop out on me. So i will give the tips a try and hopefully i can keep it working :). Thanks everybody for your advice

It happens to me, too. I hit the refresh button and when it comes back it asks if I want to restore the image and ,voila, everything is there and working again.

I'm with marc. I've had that problem, but if you just wait a bit, or switch off, like marc, says it should go back to acting normal.

I should probably note that it it is a bug, and it's not supposed to do that, but I haven't quite figured out why nor can I reproduce the problem regularly enough to trace the source.

if it helps at all, I figured out that it does it when I hit undo. occasionally, it does that and then the applet stops working, and like it goes back a couple undos "so there are more than one on side chart" when I only click it once. Hope that helps to trace the bug Marcello and hope that the problem can be fixed :). Good luck
