You don't want me to pull out my reference for this one.
(Mine has a 6" barrel... I drew it w/ a 4" here because I wanted it this size and couldn't make the canvas wider.)

Hehe.....this is great DBA XD.You shoulda made this one of those action pics of someone shooting a pencil in mid air or something :).It's still looking pretty cool though with all the detail you put onto the gun.Bg also really serves its purpose of bringing forth the hand and the gun.Love the bullet capture here :).

Btw, thanks for the comment on Barrett....:)
Thear (Jun 11, 2004)
WoW!! pretty realistic looking! ^^ that blast effect is great!
emmamommalag (Jun 11, 2004)
You've outdone yourself, Dead. This is marvelous. Your pictures are getting so much more sharply detailed. And that background sets it off very nicely. I love this one. :)
Axil62 (Jun 11, 2004)
The gun looks great. You must be left handed. The explosion is too small and the smoke curling upwards would come after the bullet were far far away. You probably get sick of me pointing things out.....so sue me.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 11, 2004)
Uhuh.... about the smoke.... you don't know that was my first shot, darlin..... the big S.O.B. smokes constantly while I rip off shots. :D (And technically, at that point, my hand and the gun would be kicked up a bit)
Axil62 (Jun 11, 2004)
Oh.
method3 (Jun 11, 2004)
Here's just a quick critique after looking at the perspectives which are off to me. You have the chamber for the bullets shaped like )_) or something, and yet the end of the barrel (the fire) looks like it's going like ()--- instead of like _)--- you know what I mean? For instance, if this is a side shot of the revolver then you wouldn't be looking at the insides of the muzzle right?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jun 11, 2004)
It's a straight side shot of the gun, and I think I see what you mean about the end of the barrel, (the way I see it it's the explosion that causes it to appear off) I'm holding up my gun looking at it right now and the perspectives on the revolver and everything are okay... dunno...maybe it's just the way I did the fire
Axil62 (edited Jun 11, 2004)
Method is right. It may actually look like that when you fire it in real life but sometimes you have to take artistic license and fudge it a little to make the viewers brain happy so I polled the audience (and I think we all know how that must feel) , 90% of subconcious telepathic voters feel that the end of the barrel should be rounded slightly. Even at a dead on side view there is the slightest amount of VP going on which would make the end of the barrel a slight oval with the right side of the oval being the closest to the viewer therefore obscuring the rest of the oval and producing a slightly curved end of the cylinder shaped barrel. It's like this one time when I got some ice cream on my sisters bike seat and it was hot outside so the ice cream became sticky pretty fast and then dried up so before she knew about it I tried to hose it off, well the force of the blast of water knocked the bike over onto my other sister and broker her nose. So of course by now I knew that if I wanted to clean all that blood off of the sidewalk I'd better get to spraying right away. I would have cleaned up the blood on her face and clothes too but my ice cream was melting pretty fast, besides all that crying going on.
xwindflyer (Jun 11, 2004)
Careful dude, she might turn that gun on you! (nice picture DBA, didn't know you were a pistol packing Mama). I'll have to rmember that in future.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 11, 2004)
Ummm, I am laughing so hard... I thank Method for the critique, and I'm surprised Axil didn't point that out to me since he knows better than anyone that I can be perspective retarded.... (or in this case... my husband bought us a great big brand new boat and I was too happy and I drank too much beer and got too much sun and then finished the picture??? lol) I was so engrossed in doing the "explosion" I didn't even think about the curvature at the end of the barrel, plus I was upset about having to reduce my "buddy" to 4" instead of his actual 6". I have lots of guns. Perhaps I'll draw all of them till I get it right. :D
Axil62 (Jun 11, 2004)
Yeah yeah...guns, sure. What about the ice cream thing?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 11, 2004)
Well, I don't like ice cream. I hate it, in fact, but your story reminded me of the time I accidently caused one of my little brothers to wreck out on his bicycle down a steep hill towards a ramp we built and he hit his chin on the pavement and busted it open (it was barely healed from when it busted when I pushed him off of the hay bails we were jumping across or maybe it was not healed yet from the time I pushed him onto the road off the roof of the car we were playing on.... I can't remember exactly, except this time he stuck his finger through the hole from his chin up into in front of his bottom teeth and thought that was cool, and I ran screaming home...) he has a big scar there now and can't grow a beard. All my fault he says... can you believe that? I hate beards, anyway, and I don't like ice cream, either, but I like to play with my guns.
Axil62 (Jun 11, 2004)
Oh. Well my ice cream story was a lie.
bumpinthenight (Jun 11, 2004)
woah... very neat stuff.... love the manicure as well as the definition of the gun.... XD
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 11, 2004)
I took that polish off right after I finished the picture. :) Oh, and I screwed up a little on the chin story, too, actually it was my other little brother that got pushed off the hay bail, and his arm broke, but his chin was fine, and he is with me on the ice cream thing. He doesn't like it, either.
Axil62 (Jun 11, 2004)
Whew! thank god. I was worried.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 11, 2004)
Do you really like ice cream, or was some of the story the truth?
Axil62 (Jun 11, 2004)
Ice cream is a non issue with me, take it or leave it kinda thing. None of the story was true.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jun 11, 2004)
Oh, okay. Most of my stories are true. To the best of my knowledge and memory, anyway. So do you have two sisters or just one?edit: oops gotta go for a bit: my husband made dinner for me (good grief, sometimes I wonder what he did that was so awful that he does all of this stuff for me? Is this compensation for guilt or something?!!?)
Aubrey (Jun 11, 2004)
Great picture, even with the non-existent slight curveture of the barrel lol You're packin some talented heat there girly.
fleeting_memory (Jun 11, 2004)
NIce work on the bullet but the hand totally freaked me out-you better be holding that gun with two hands otherwise you need to see a doctor about the way your fingers are arranged ;)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jun 11, 2004)
No one holds a .44 with just one hand unless they are an idiot...(or Clint Eastwood, or a very large man... :) (Most ppl cup the butt of the gun and the shooting hand w/ the opposite for support when shooting any pistol)but you can't see my right hand, that's my left, and it's done correctly, honey... no dr. needed.
Gigandas (Jun 11, 2004)
Hehe....if it were Rufus, he can't shoot a shot gun with just one arm raised XDD.....and he's a thin guy :).....(but then it's FF so......that's not the point)
Supergurl103 (Jun 11, 2004)
nice, DBA, love the gun and the bullets, i am not a gun expert so i don't know anything about gun :S love the blasting effect.. do smoke come out so quick after it blasted out? :S
Atsever (Jun 12, 2004)
So COLOL...N?ce background,Gun and fingernail(pink :))
Childlike_Vampire (Jun 12, 2004)
This is awesome. What I really like about it is how the gun and the background look so cold, but then there's that burst of deadly flame. lol, great drawing.
davincipoppalag (Jun 12, 2004)
Good job on this one Mizz Cindy. I like the depth of the bg and how the gun stands out.. nice one (and so nice and Crisp)
laurael (Jun 12, 2004)
Awesome gun, nails, flame and bullet...it's so damn fun to shoot guns...isn't it?
Urei-sama (Jun 13, 2004)
