I have never actually seen a picture of Rockwell. I love his posture/body language in this. Don't put a clown nose on him later, okay?
Axil62 (Jun 6, 2004)
A clown nose on Norman Rockwell? Not a chance my dear, not a chance.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 6, 2004)
Okay, good. No potty chair, either.
dixielandcutie (Jun 6, 2004)
norman rockwell is my all time favorite artist in the world...oh my gosh...axil...wow...this rocks...you rock...and again, im finding a new hobby now...you never cease to amaze me in the wide range in scope of your work...coupled with the fact that 99 percent of the time they look amazing...wow...
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 6, 2004)
I didn't see that other one percent, then. :)
dixielandcutie (Jun 6, 2004)
lol, me neither yet...i was just playin it safe ;p
Zack (Jun 6, 2004)
I love that one triple self-portrait Rockwell painted of himself. All of his work is so masterful, and the apparant ease and ingenuity with which he handled both sober and comical subjects is just amazing. This pic is going to be one of my favorites, I'm sure.

Hey! I liked that potty chair. It was very well drawn. You should be more considerate of Axil's feelings, DBA.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 6, 2004)
Oh. Sorry. :( I don't want to hurt his feelings. Okay, he can draw a potty chair on every picture, then.
Zack (Jun 6, 2004)
Maybe a little one in the corner, like a signature.
Kloxboy (Jun 6, 2004)
Nice work Dan. Looks like he's sketching Shuffleton's Barber Shop? I'm a big fan of his work. I think most illustrators have a lot of respect for him.
safescene (Jun 6, 2004)
Rockwell's work is ingenious and so original. It's great to see an artist stand up for his/her morals and express it as well as he did. I too can't wait to see this one finished; I say it often but this is great, as always :)

Oh, and I gotta' mention that the scratches in his hair are a nice touch, that is, if you intend on leaving them there, and, well, if not then I guess that comment's s.o.l. then, isn't it?
emmamommalag (Jun 6, 2004)
I love Norman Rockwell.. you're doing a great job. Looks just like him.
davincipoppalag (Jun 7, 2004)
He feels like family, I grew up with him. Every other Saturday dad would take us to the post exchange for haircuts, and we got to see the new Saturday Evening Post with a Rockwell on the cover. he was one of a kind and did such wonderful, and humorous work. His serious pieces were always very moving also. I am looking forward to seeing this one finished.
Pandora (Jun 7, 2004)
Wow...Norman Rockwells art gives such comfort and reminds us of how things have changed. lol It's a reminder to me of how far we have advanced. This is extraordinary Axil. Not even finished and it's beautiful.
Zack (Jun 7, 2004)
I wouldn't say 'advanced' so much as 'complicated.'

Yeah, Zack. Or I wouldn't say "complicated" as much as "screwed up". Yeah, exactly. This is looking great.

I think this is really great stuff. Too bad you ran out of space though, I know you would like to finish it some more.
dixielandcutie (Jun 8, 2004)

Fantastic. Nice use of angles and depth. Love it love it love it!
Axil62 (Jun 8, 2004)
Thank you safescene. Sure would like to see you do another one tho.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 8, 2004)
This is wonderful. It's not finished? Weyaaaalll, Why'ncha just ask for more space, then? Or text abuse or something.... SPACE, please! PLEASE!!! Axil needs space and I bet he doesn't want to ask! (please :)??)
Axil62 (edited Jun 8, 2004)
What? Space? Me? no no no...I would never. You mean you can get more space? Say...what goes on here? Who's the weisenheimer?
LovelyLori (Jun 8, 2004)
I don't know enough about art to give constructive criticism.. but this looks GREAT to me.... Norman Rockwell was an incredible artist, good idea Axil
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jun 8, 2004)
I just know you prolly are reluctant to ask... but I checked the CelloLobby, and the CelloBar Lounge, and the Cellobathroom and all the CelloStudios and I don't see a moderator anywhere in Celloland right now, maybe one of them will see this later and be kind enough to give you some kb thingies without making you grovel. :)
davincipoppalag (Jun 9, 2004)
This is really really excellent.. don't worry Mizz Cindy.. I told him how to do it..
Aubrey (Jun 9, 2004)
We still have some Saturday Evening Posts here Poppa lol Ahhh Rockwell. His imagination just blows me away how he saw things and his ability to portray things splendidly the way he saw them... *sigh*... amazin portrait of him Azil!
