well it looks very nice so far..the eye and skin are lovely..DONT BLUR! tips for hair..hm..well..less is more i say, i guess its a tendency to want to do a million strands of hair, but that makes it kinda straw looking unless you are doing an extreme closeup...i think its best to look at your reference, and visualize the darkest color in her hair scheme, like the roots..then make that the base color for the whole shape of her hair, then on a low opacity start adding some depth with a lighter color...and then the last thing is to add indivdual strands where they are highlighted. if realistic is what you are going for anyway..oh and to see the best examples of that, watch Gigandas' and Everdream's animations. ; ) good luck

one definite tip would be to block out the entire image with color rather than working all the intricate details on each part as you go. Once you've blocked it out you then start adding more and more detail until it's realistic. Otherwise you're liable to screw up proportions and whatnot and you won't want to erase your hard work...

thanks all... Staci, thanks for those hair tips, I'll try them on the rest, the coloring of the hair is real strange and multicolored kinda in the pic... it is a character from a game, so it not meant to be completely realistic... but the skin is sooo smoothe in the pic, I'm not sure I can accomplish that.... all of my pics are kind of still experimental at this point... and Marcello, thank you too, you're right... that's what I should've done from the start but it seemed better to get the tones right by just playing with it all on top of black, then adding light and shading and stuff.... this one will take quite a while I'm sure, if I'm to get it to a good stage to submit

Would this be a character from Zelda or something?Looks like it would :).I thought I remember reading somewhere on one of your posts that your son likes playing Dynasty warriors.I love that game too XD.You should draw a character from that sometime too :).This is looking nice so far and i don't really see any real corrections to be made yet.I would have to see it again after you make some more additions I guess.But since I can't come up with things at the moment, hopefully the other people's comments are helping.Nice job though^^.

hehe... my son showed me a picture, I'll have to ask him which character that was... but he wants me to do the same, so yeah I'll do that :) He is so psyched that I'm doing game characters now... hehe -huge challenge for me though- but that's what I like about it.... oh and btw, this one is from Everquest, and doesn't look much at all like the picture I'm using

Umm, the guy I mentioned would probably be easiest to find by looking for a man with long black hair and an eyepatch(he's the only one in the game with an eyepatch).But if your son has a certain character he wants you to draw, go for that instead :).I'd be happy just to see a character from the game :).

Edit: Forgot to add on^^;-This chara's from EQ?I haven't played the game but I thought that's one of those games where you make your own character.So would that make her made up too?Or would it be a in-play fixed character or something(like one that appears in the story line)?

just looked up what Jake showed me... it's from Samurai Warriors, a game he thinks he needs to have now.. lol... he is SO into Dynasty Warriors though, he'd love it if I drew Xiahou Dun! now I know which one that is, thanks

lol, no problem XD.I used to get so confused with their Chinese names^^;.But after playing so many hours of it, I actually learned them and it's quite a task^^;(since there are like 42 characters in that thing^^;).Anyways, I can't wait for you to get on that one as well as the completion of this one >v<.Good luck :)!

i think it looks great..maybe brighten the hair up a little with some highlighted areas..but you can do that when you are totally finished..
now comes the hard part..the other eye!

Hey, I was looking at the thumbnail and for a second it looked like a whole new picture for some reason XD.So you did end up hiding the ears huh^^;?I thought it'd be nice to keep them, but hey, it still looks great :).Besides the couple minor symmetry errors, this turned out great!It's funny, this pic seems to give off a holy yet eerie feel to it.....that she might come up to you and open her mouth and show you her fangs or something even with the way she looks now XD.Nice highlighting btw.Very nice...:)

it sure has emma... or maybe just life in general has done that lately... this actually pumped me up some, to know I could get it to look halfway decent is a big plus...
