yay! I learned about Hendri De Toulouse-Lautrec in Art History today. :) haha, when I saw this image I instanly feel in love with the sickly colors and the careless strokes that the lovely impressionist use. I don't think I can exactly capture the truthful artistic qualities of the actual painting but the colors and lighting effect looked really fun to do :D

It's all about the masters, if you can't respect and learn from them then you smell. I think a lot of impressionist and expressionists were either taking drugs or drinking too much...artistic fuel I guess. Of course, if alcohol is artistic fuel then I'm the next Picasso! jk

lol, yeah you're right clox. The artist was actually at an outing drank a shit load of absinthe. This is what he saw, therefore painted. I really liked how the walls were a pukeish color. So sexy. :D

I KNOW THIS DUDE!!! I tink... I saw one of his art exibitons on a feild trip once... The skin tones really are sickly. The eyes are v. well done and i think the strocks you used are better than any I've aever attempted.

thank you. I think this week I'm going to the museum and hopefully I'll spot this painting there as well as some Monet.

XD-this iis kinda freaky, looking like one of those "evil lookin' facial French party dressers".But yeah, this is cool XD.I like what you did with the face. But then again all your work is just awesome XD.

When I was a freshman in college my friends and I had absinthe imported from Europe, 2 bottles from Spain and 2 from Czech. We drank and painted, drank and painted..our paintings were very colorful but all in all they were pretty pathetic. The moral of this story...if you wanna improve your painting by drinking absinthe, you gotta practice, it's about $50 a bottle (the good stuff anyway), so get cracking chuckles.

Toulouse-Lautrec was a dwarfish mishappen man. He felt outcast and started frequenting prostitutes. That led him to the Paris cabaret scene and most of his work was done in those places. I love his work. It is full of color and action. There was a great movie about him starring Jose Ferrer back in the 60's I believe. THis captures that flavor quite nicely. What was that saying? Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder? lol

I think you captured this beautifully. I wonder why he made the eyes so hollow looking. Did he not see anything in them?
