To Brushes: I hope that this does the memory of your mother, and the love you have for your children justice. I find that alot of people associate redbirds with someone who was very dear to them, usually the person who taught them to love. My grandmother loves them, and it was one of the first things we painted together when I was little.

I had imagined him with his wings tucked completely behind him, but thot it would look better if u could see the tip of his left wing, and modified the right one a bit. Amazes me how I never see this stuff until it's on the board.

Nice work, cool textures. The background is almost as amazing as the bird itself, looks like real pines.

CARDINAL!~ yay.. Ya done did good! lol the bg is great.. the wing you see on the left of the pic (his right) seems a bit short in relation to the apparent length of the other one though.. ( I know I now..old people are SUCH a pain in the butt)

I see it, I just went in whallago and added that other wing tip, it wasn't there originally.(You are only seeing part of his right wing) They are tucked behind him and he's just so fat from eating too much corn from my feeder that he doesn't get much exercise anymore, and his wings are just out of shape. lolol :) You old ppl are so persnickity hah! (jk)

oh oh oh i dont dont what to say..thanks so very much, he's absolutely beautiful, and detail is amazing (as usual) Can anyone else feel that cool crisp breeze ruffling his feathers just a tad? or smell that wonderful foresty pine? DBA? if u drew a chocolate cake i"d probably get fat! lol

Well done. Beautiful. It's nice to see sharper stuff from you...I don't mean mean sharper as in better...I mean...no, it's better but I don't mean the other stuff isn't...ok wait. What I meant was...this is crisper, you know, less "soft", but the bird looks real and we all know birds are soft, so...what I mean is the brushes are....ok where's the door?

My sister just called to say how much she loves this one DBA.

Soshell (Mar 4, 2004)
wow! DBA! i love this! you are an inspiration to bird lovers everywhere :D
EverDream (Mar 4, 2004)
This is really good DBA! You did exceptional work on the background. My only pick with this is the tip of the beak doesn't seem to fit being rounded like that....kinda like it belongs on a different species...you might want to try sharpening the edge more, making it more straight. Other than that everything else is awesome! :D

Love this pic... so realistic.. and the Cardinal is my state bird. (Ohio)

as fledgling wings grow on avery situation, doth thy cardinal fly with thee?
