Appollo says that Cupid's arrows are just toys so Cupid, to get back at him, shoots this nymph with a led arrow and she suddenly never wants love so she runs to her father and pleads with him to help her prevent from ever having to be married then cupid shoots apollo with a golden arrow and he falls helplessly in love with the nymph who refuses love he runs after her and she is always just out of his reach when he finally gains on her she cries out to her father who immediately turns her into a tree...a Laurel tree and appollo is heartbroken because his first true love is now a tree and so he took her bark and made a lyre and took her leaves and made a crown of laurel leaves that's why the greeks wore those funny leaf crowns
