Anyone here have Deviant accounts? If so.. Could you post your username pertaining to that community? I was just wondering how many of us go there. I just signed up on Sunday. Seems pretty nice there so far.

I have an account there, although the cohesiveness of the art community there is questionable as I'm sure many people may agree, simply because of the enormous amount of users there. But yes indeed, there are some good things there imo, like diamonds in the rough or pins hidden among thousands of haystacks.

Time for Marcello's opinion on deviantart! (Which I should note is mostly bitter due to their old extremely awful interface/web design.) Since I've never had (or needed to have) an account on deviantart, my opinion is entirely based on what I've seen of deviantart.

"Deviantart is a good idea, but deviantart sucks." It's poorly organized, but also oriented around the whole ego notion (with favorites and buddies and whatnot), and although it's improved recently, the design was really awful. The excessive advertisments aren't great, but that's to be expected when you try to do something as unrestricted. I also get the impression deviantart is designed by people who aren't good programmers, and possibly started with something like postnuke or something equally awful as that. The site has always been pretty slow, and that is partly a function of its size, it's just too freaking big.

So ya.

*Claps and cheers wildly* Sniff, very well put. Well I guess thats the point of view from an expert website programmer such as yourself. And yes, I have noticed the slowness of the site. When I post a comment etc, it takes about 5-10 minutes before it actually shows up. What about you, Marcello, making a CelloART? Rofl.. Unless you would be burned for "stealing" the idea. But I guess, whats the point if you have 2draw? I dunno. But I do really like their emoticons. Haha.

im on deviantart www.zappo.deviantart.com ....I liked it like the first day i made my account. But theyre are WAY too many people on there im not even a drop in the bucket.so i dont really use it anmore........and the layout makes me want to put a pencil in my eye......

Haha, Ky. Yeah, I already looked there a few days ago. Mostly camera photos though. Was expecting some amazing abstract wonders.
Edit: Sorry if I gave the wrong outlook.. They are pretty neat photos, but just that I expected drawing-stuffs. The photos are cool though.

No worries. They're particularly enjoyable photos.

I have one. I forget what it's called, tho. I realized how bad it sucked an hour after I was accepted. There are like, 15 pictures posted every second.

That's a nice change over something like Elfwood, in which things are updated as slow as a month, and any other site is in close range of hitting their bandwidth exceedence.

as for deviant art, I kinda against the whole "buddy" thing and yet i like it too. the against part is when some great artist put up a simple sketch just for fun, and all the buddies went and push it to top fav, which push down the other great works. that just sucks. the good thing about it is.. you get to know new ppl and new artists.
even though deviant art has loads of crap images, it's still nice for them to provide a space for artist at all levels. and talk about design... elfwood is worse... it looks more ugly...

well the main thing I like about oekaki is you know people aren't using pirated software... on sites like deviantart, they could be using anything...
not that that's a problem...

I just tried to make another one, because my writer advises me so. However, I still haven't recieved a confirmation email. Are they not taking any more users, or do they just have a lot of pending members?

I think they are still taking users, cause I just signed up 2 weeks ago. I haven't seen any notices that they aren't taking anymore. Probably just many pending members.

i joined deviantart too on the recommendation of another sketching friend. Between my dialup and their design I couldnt get anywhere with it... artcluster is also like that...although there I can see the artwork..(havent been able to see any on deviant) I am really enjoying what I see here! So many very talented artists, and so many new pictures every time I come..
