Alter.Native (Oct 14, 2009)
All the versions are fascinating! Awesome artwork.
enjoydotcom (Oct 14, 2009)
It's like a dreamlike image evolving. Hm, sorry, impossible to explain what I mean, but it is great!
Dr.Moony (Oct 15, 2009)
Thanks!
Worked on an update but Lascaux starts to get real slow and screwed me over. So I couldn't submit it.
the image
I will probably finish this series soon.

Moosh (Oct 18, 2009)
Love it!
Missdj (Oct 18, 2009)
I think the creature should set her free. She doesn't deserve his cruelty.
Hierognosis (Oct 18, 2009)
That's extremely detailed. The black and white looks great.
Roytje (Oct 18, 2009)
Great finish. It's a shame lascaux sketch doesn't have animation. It would be a pleasure to watch it.
Bobstained (Oct 18, 2009)
It would be.
elly (Oct 18, 2009)
agreed w/roy..would've loved to watch the process/progress! Outstanding to say the least =)
Suntan (Oct 18, 2009)
I can't stop looking at the mottled skin. Superb creature. :)
backmagicwoman (Oct 18, 2009)
I like it..looks like Quasimodo all jacked up....
cyclops (Oct 18, 2009)
delicious.
QTgillie (edited Oct 18, 2009)
and a fabulous creature this is. love it. i been gone for so long and this was a nice surprise to look at.

and OH WOW.....I just went back and looked at each version, they are all stunning....I especially like the one that has a (and wouldn't you know, I can't think of the artist) ___________ look to it. When I figure out the artist I will come back and fill in the blank. Just wonderful.
firecracker (Oct 18, 2009)
"Wow".....this is an amazing looking creature......he doesn't look mean though......he seems to want to be friendly. He has a kind look about him.....:)
Gigandas (Oct 18, 2009)
I just wanted to say, you inspire me Moony.
Black_Bird (Oct 19, 2009)
I see it more as the woman going through some sort of mutation/surgical process, resulting as a monster.
Flubbles (Oct 19, 2009)
Yea it could be a woman with a headscarf on.
Alter.Native (Oct 19, 2009)
Sweet!
Alex-Cooper (Oct 19, 2009)
Top notch critter. Dig the skin textures.
davincipoppalag (Oct 19, 2009)
seriously creative
Flubbles (Oct 19, 2009)
Where did you do the colour corrected one?
marcello (Oct 19, 2009)
you could do that color correction on lascaux by adding a new layer filled with greys and set to the dodge blend mode
Aubrey (Oct 19, 2009)
How awesome is that? Almost has a 3D effect even. He would probably be a very cool character in a computer animated movie of some sort.
vlad.the.hamster (Oct 19, 2009)
All of these are seriously amazing, really looks almost 3D like Aubrey said.

wow, all the stages of the pic are great, nice work Dr.Moony
Suntan (Oct 23, 2009)
Wow, nice to be able to see this and all the versions in the showcase. Congrats.
Gigandas (Oct 23, 2009)
I keep coming back to view this, but this time I have a question for you. How do you come up with your textures? Are you just very observant when it comes to studying textures, or do you just mess around with the brush until you get something you like? Just wondering if you have any advice on texturing that you might be willing to share - that's what amazes me most about your work.
Dr.Moony (Oct 24, 2009)
I mostly use my messy lines as a feed to find intersting shapes in, which I then try to bring out. I like to experiment a lot with what I have(layer effects, deconstruction, more messy lines, ...).
Some shapes purely originate from experimenting, others are inspired by observation.
I recommend is trying to replicate and analyze textures/shapes which interest you. A few years ago a friend got me interested in graffiti. I really loved how energetic graffiti feels so I tried to get behind it. My stuff sucked(I worked primarily on paper) but I absorbed a a few things. I think(hope) it helps me create more compelling shapes overall.
Suntan (Oct 24, 2009)
Interesting.
sincity (Jan 25, 2011)
My kinda pic. Awesome. :}
dorothyblueeyes (Jan 28, 2011)
This is such an "awesome" creature, it looks so real, too. wow. wonderful, he could be in a movie, for real. Yes,good idea about the experimenting, to see just what the software and combinations wuill do.
Shredguts (Mar 9, 2012)
F'n superb. Each phase could stand on its own.
Wraith (Mar 10, 2012)
Yeah.. This is... WOW! Going to have to check out his gallery again. Great stuff.
