I'm never gonna finish this
featherstone (Jan 17, 2006)
thanks CV
JoeNobody (Jan 17, 2006)
this is very nice, I agree with CV on how nice the contrast is. It works very well.

I think he looks like a happy fun guy that likes to eat some candy and skip rope.
terracotta (Jan 26, 2006)
...or offer candy to little girls who are skipping rope, more like. Where did this come from? It's wunnerful. So fluid. |

quite possibley the most character i've ever seen in a dragon
terracotta (Jan 28, 2006)
Bennie? Not with those Hercule Poirot whiskers. Something very European. Maurice or Fabrizio or Gustave. Fernando, Emile, or Dieter. It's a lovely painting of a dragon--the expression, the bold colours/highlights, whimsical background--all works together wonderful well.
Luka (Jan 31, 2006)
Ty! I like Maurice or Emile, but I think I'm going to call him Victor (like my brother, because he has that smirk on his face sometimes ..hehehe:P).
terracotta (Jan 31, 2006)
O! Victor is perfect. Hhhhssssss. |

Everybody's favorite bush plane
Belldandy (Jan 26, 2006)
That's cool, really nice plane
nobody (Jan 26, 2006)
nice work overall. something about the perspective though makes it seem like it's leaning too far to the paddle (whatever you callit?) on our right. also, you may wish to use less grey in your shadows, as grey is a neutral color and may flatten it. try deep blues for the water, especially.
davincipoppalag (Jan 26, 2006)
Yea it sucks.. I got tired of working on it and posted it this way.

Trying something different. This is the first time I've used a mouse pen, it takes alittle getting used to.
terracotta (Jan 27, 2006)
Started out rolling my own ...something that came in a blue can, even Bull Durham when I was broke. Then Camel straights, then Marlboros, then Winstons and Camel Filters and finally Export A's. The last time I took a break from smoking was five and half years ago. I'll never say I quit. I still consider buying a pack now and then. How can y'all afford it any more anyway? They're 8 bucks a pack here. I remember being pissed off when the price in machines went up to 50 cents. ha. If wages had kept pace with the cost of smoking, I'd be making $80 an hour now. I think it's cheaper to be a heroine addict, isn't it? (sorry. I know this is forum fodder. 'pologies, Sythe.)
SYTHE (Jan 28, 2006)
Hey T, that's one of the most interesting stories I've heard all day. I've rolled my own, smoked pipes and even used dip. Did you know that they even have Marlboro in Iraq? They taste like sawdust over there but hey, when you need a smoke you'll settle for anything. I've replaced my nicotine habit with caffeine, now I'm up to a pack of Cola a day (just kidding).
mikron (Jan 28, 2006)
WOW ! The dark side is magnificent ! (I wasn't referring to the pic.. I was referring to Star Wars ... (kidding acourse ;)).
SYTHE (Jan 28, 2006)
The Dark Side gets all the best powers, why would anyone want to be a Jedi anyway. Incidentally, I pronouce my username like Sith also. :) |

"It's A Dream"In the morning when I wake up and listen to the sound Of the birds outside on the roof I try to ignore what the paper says And I try not to read all the news And I'll hold you if you had a bad dream And I hope it never comes true 'Cause you and I been through so many things together And the sun starts climbing the roof It's a dream Only a dream And it's fading now Fading away It's only a dream Just a memory without anywhere to stay The Red River stills flows through my home town Rollin' and tumblin' on its way Swirling around the old bridge pylons Where a boy fishes the morning away His bicycle leans on an oak tree While the cars rumble over his head An aeroplane leaves a trail in an empty blue sky And the young birds call out to be fed It's a dream Only a dream And it's fading now Fading away It's only a dream Just a memory without anywhere to stay An old man walks along on the sidewalk Sunglasses and an old Stetson hat The four winds blow the back of his overcoat away As he stops with the policeman to chat And a train rolls out of the station That was really somethin' in its day Picking up speed on the straight prairie rails As it carries the passengers away It's gone Only a dream And it's fading now Fading away Only a dream Just a memory without anywhere to stay It's a dream Only a dream And it's fading now Fading away It's only a dream Just a memory without anywhere to stay It's a dream Only a dream And it's fading now Fading away ~Neil Young~

through a window
hideyourface (Jan 27, 2006)
Theres something reeally weird about really bright beams of sunlight when the sun is setting. It's just really awkward to see something so bright when the sky is getting darker. This picture gives me a funny feeling. I like it.
Miss_DJ (Jan 27, 2006)
very nice, Cindy...great choice of colors!
darkshadow (Jan 31, 2006)
the windows did not give me the feeling they were wet just really old glass from before the 1920's kinda settals and given time the top becomes thin and the bottom gets thicker my Nana has a 250 year old house in up state New York and many of the windows look like this

Ok yeah I suck. But figured it looked ok anyway. I kept shading and reshading and doing it again.

I'm liking the skin colour with the shade of lipstick--dramatic. Liquids are hard. Could I suggest that you might find it helpful to just draw a single drop of water on skin or some surface so that you can study how the highlight, shadow and transparency work together to give the effect you're after? It's tough to work on a portrait as complex as this and figure out a technique like drawing liquid at the same time--recipe for frustration. I like the painterly brushstrokes you get with your skin tones. |

He got bad, and she got mad, he lowered one more timeAnd she got even No one heard a single word and as the clock ticked from next door I could hear her breathing And I said good morning Mrs. Sumner I would like you to meet my friend Mr. Jones He has a house made out of butterflies I can't sleep sometimes but I've been told It's a lonely condition called growing old Let me stumble sometimes I'm looking for a soul to cling to Girl what you think about that This time, well it all comes down To loss and strain and butterflies Then it comes right down to me Hello have you been alright Did you find a piece of something wrapped around the light side of your life To make you feel better Did you get out with your sanity Did you save a little something for the people in need And did you know with the rain in your pockets You can change the weather Is it just the total for the wages of our sins And have you made yourself a victim In a game that you can't win And are we caving in And does it all depend on loss and strain and butterflies And does it come right down to me anymore This time Does it all come down To loss and strain and butterflies
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 29, 2006)
I always respect and consider Gigandas' opinion and criticism, (along with that of most others) because he knows what he's talking about. I didn't say I was going to ignore everyone's opinion, just yours. You are still stupid.
darkshadow (Jan 31, 2006)
