Oda Nobunaga was a great Japanese warlord who conquered a lot and attempted to unify Japan. He's looked down on by some people though because he destroyed a lot of buddhist temples because he wanted everyone to follow shinto or something. He did great things though.

Thanks HYF, just goes to show that you lean something new every day! Yesterday I learned how to tie my shoes, tomorrow I might finally learn how to set that damn VCR!

Love this picture so much. The colors are great and the linework is so nice (someone needs to teach me how to draw smoother lines lol) But great piece of work here!!! Thanks for the comment on my Usagi pic too ^.^

Trying to figure out how to do lineart on here.... tis HARD. Things that take me minutes on paper take hours on the computer. Also, whenever I turn on AA, it'll work fine for 15 minutes or so, but eventually the applet freezes and everything dies. Does this happen to anyone else, or is my computer just old and slow?

Edit--> Just noticed that the title had 2 E's on the end.... now I feel like a typing impaired moron XP

Done! Many thanks to Maiko for the extra space ^^
terracotta (Jan 30, 2006)
I am extremely reluctant to say this to someone who has patienceisovertated as a name :O but...I think the white outline is too much contrast. It's okay, don't get me wrong. But I'd try a medium-to-light tone outline here. Just my two cents. Don't hit me. (cringes)
patienceisoverrated (edited Jan 30, 2006)
Don't worry. I'm not a violent kinda gal. And the white outline is actually transparent, so all I have to do is create a new layer and add colour behind, so it should be super-easy to change. I like things to look nice... so my dislike of having to be patient is usually overridden (is that even a word?) by my desire to have things look nice, when it comes to art :)

"It's A Dream"

In the morning when I wake up and listen to the sound
Of the birds outside on the roof
I try to ignore what the paper says
And I try not to read all the news
And I'll hold you if you had a bad dream
And I hope it never comes true
'Cause you and I been through so many things together
And the sun starts climbing the roof

It's a dream
Only a dream
And it's fading now
Fading away
It's only a dream
Just a memory without anywhere to stay

The Red River stills flows through my home town
Rollin' and tumblin' on its way
Swirling around the old bridge pylons
Where a boy fishes the morning away
His bicycle leans on an oak tree
While the cars rumble over his head
An aeroplane leaves a trail in an empty blue sky
And the young birds call out to be fed

It's a dream
Only a dream
And it's fading now
Fading away
It's only a dream
Just a memory without anywhere to stay

An old man walks along on the sidewalk
Sunglasses and an old Stetson hat
The four winds blow the back of his overcoat away
As he stops with the policeman to chat
And a train rolls out of the station
That was really somethin' in its day
Picking up speed on the straight prairie rails
As it carries the passengers away

It's gone
Only a dream
And it's fading now
Fading away
Only a dream
Just a memory without anywhere to stay

It's a dream
Only a dream
And it's fading now
Fading away
It's only a dream
Just a memory without anywhere to stay

It's a dream
Only a dream
And it's fading now
Fading away

nobody (Jan 26, 2006)
nice work overall. something about the perspective though makes it seem like it's leaning too far to the paddle (whatever you callit?) on our right. also, you may wish to use less grey in your shadows, as grey is a neutral color and may flatten it. try deep blues for the water, especially.
davincipoppalag (Jan 26, 2006)
Yea it sucks.. I got tired of working on it and posted it this way.

This was one of those times when you are on the fence about whether or not you really feel like drawing, then you do.

he was probably right. this picture is monochrome, after all, so it's not a good example. but I think it's safe to say that once someone is good, 'rules' aren't as important.
Sweetcell (Jan 27, 2006)
It's so simple, so loose, yet there's the true touch of realism, as much like impressionism. I'm getting to be a fan.

Thanks. I have my pressure sensitivity set to one notch below the highest pressure setting, but I guess that's just a personal preference, maybe I'm a little heavy handed and just need it that way.

I know. I keep watching that arched doorway, thinking any minute now someone interesting is going to come flyin' out of it...I'll just sit here and wait until you've mastered some animation program. Okay?
JoeNobody (Jan 28, 2006)
You guys can't see the animation? Well, he does come out of the arched doorway after a long day at his desk, walks across the street and into his apartment building. He takes the elevator to the top floor then climbs the one flight of stairs to the rooftop. There he has his watering can and lovingly tends to his flowers. After watering and removing some dry petals he stands at the edge of the rooftop for a while, watching the others in the city as they finish their days. As the sun drops behind the buildings in the west and the lights in the buildings begin to glow he heads back down the stairs and to the elevator. Hungry but not wanting to return to his apartment to face eating another microwaved supper, he leaves out the front door and goes around the corner to his favorite tavern where he orders a Belgian beer and eats pretzels from the bowl on the bar.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 28, 2006)
Oh. I was thinking more like a little round fat man toppled off the roof while watering the flowers, bounced a couple of times, and then got flattened by a steam roller.
JoeNobody (Jan 28, 2006)
that happens in episode two.

Started out rolling my own ...something that came in a blue can, even Bull Durham when I was broke. Then Camel straights, then Marlboros, then Winstons and Camel Filters and finally Export A's. The last time I took a break from smoking was five and half years ago. I'll never say I quit. I still consider buying a pack now and then. How can y'all afford it any more anyway? They're 8 bucks a pack here. I remember being pissed off when the price in machines went up to 50 cents. ha. If wages had kept pace with the cost of smoking, I'd be making $80 an hour now. I think it's cheaper to be a heroine addict, isn't it? (sorry. I know this is forum fodder. 'pologies, Sythe.)
SYTHE (Jan 28, 2006)
Hey T, that's one of the most interesting stories I've heard all day. I've rolled my own, smoked pipes and even used dip. Did you know that they even have Marlboro in Iraq? They taste like sawdust over there but hey, when you need a smoke you'll settle for anything. I've replaced my nicotine habit with caffeine, now I'm up to a pack of Cola a day (just kidding).

WOW ! The dark side is magnificent ! (I wasn't referring to the pic.. I was referring to Star Wars ... (kidding acourse ;)).

You didn't happen to see that thing John Cleese did with the Lemurs, did you? It was hilarious. I love lemurs, bad poop-handling habits 'n all.

my dog followed me up to my bedroom last night, and when we got in there I saw him immediately pick something up from the floor with his mouth... I had no clue what it was, so I stuck my hand in his mouth and got it out... it was hard cat poop! Ugh, I thought I was gonna blow chunks.. I threw it into the trash... that makes me a poop thrower too
