the coolest pianist ever. i kinda miss himhis website and the reference for this picture is www.thomasfielding.org note- please leave comments. this isn't my usual style (i usually don't... you know... make an effort) and i really would like to improve and branch out. so help me out, people. i know, lazy background, whatever

I think it's a good start. I don't know how to help except to say there are links to lots of tutorials in the forums that talk about drawing faces, hair etc...have you looked at those?

It is a very good start! I would only say more shadows on the face and head, and soften out the lines if you want realism. There aren't many definite lines in a face or shirt, more of shadows. You have the right idea though!

I heard from an artist I admired once that bald people are the hardest to draw. I find them more fun, personally. Kudos. |

this started out as a reputably awful picture of mr. e. i was going to just forget it but then i did the blurry bit in the background and was really very happy with that, despite the fact that it was a total accident. so then i erased his face and gave him a pair of giant aviators. (he did have aviators in the reference...just not quite that big.)
