very lovely. Some of it reminds me a little of El Greco. Just a little.
staci (Jun 27, 2012)
smeary-ness.

when I was 12 I did my first paintings, with oils (yikes). I watched some tutorials and the first was a lovely mountain landscape with happy little trees and a stream. i was quite proud until my neighbors daughter got into my room while it was still drying and smeared her dirty 2 year old fingers all over it. i really want to do that to this painting! not to mess it up like that devil-baby but because you achieve such a viscous quality with pixels so well i want to touch.

Immense.

How about this idea?
Memo: Marcello, I'll give you $20 to put this piece of crap in the showcase.
RE: Hmmm... It's gonna take at least $40 for that piece of crap.
Memo: $40? Damn... OK. Paypal?
RE: Paypal will be fine. I'll have it in the showcase tomorrow.
Memo: Cool! Thanks, man.
TheCrimsonKing (Jun 27, 2012)
Fuck, I knew I should have low balled him starting at $20.
Kloxboy (Jun 28, 2012)
I like Staci's idea, something more like Daily Deviations would be cool. The whole 'like and dislike button system' seems like it would be counterproductive because it allows people to judge anonymously and without explanation, making the showcase purely a popularity contest (opposed to a place to display the sites more skillful or innovative or interesting digital art). And yes, judging things like this would be subjective but could be relatively objective if there was some loose criteria to be met that we all agreed on (I mean, don't most prominent and respected award systems work in such a way?).
TheCrimsonKing (Nov 26, 2012)
Thinking about it now I think there are pretty solid reasons a lot of pieces were showcases like this one. There was a collective evolution of skill as 2draw developed from when I joined in 2004. There seemed to be a point where the bar was raised weekly for a few years and then we got to now where it has kind of gone stagnant. We are left to look at the current content as a whole and maybe a lot doesn't fit, but when it was showcased it was amazing, inspiring, or whatever at the time it as created.

Nice apple.. have you (somehow) created a brush that comes with those little straight lines?
staci (Jul 3, 2012)
if you hold alt and rclick inside the brush editor you can make a thin (long or short) brush. holding ctrl and r rclick will let you angle the brush. setting the spacing tool slider 'C:' to about 1/3 in creates the 'lines'. using jtablet opacity sensitivity with blend checked gives the stutter gradient color effect.
shults (Jul 4, 2012)
That's quite smart, I knew those features, but never thought of combining them in such a way.

mintjelly, Maybe you are in extremely bad taste for standing up fo B.O... (bo plenty)
staci (Sep 6, 2012)
mintjelly isn't really standing up for Obama, but against bigotry and stereotyping.
dorothyblueeyes (Sep 6, 2012)
it's ok, axel is correct; i even made the mistake of voting for O, one of the worst of my life.now he cuts medicare 700 billion bucks, and i can barely get a doctor on medicare; no doctors want it, it has no money!i have to go to a charity hospital clinic, if i can get an appt.they are so minus doctors, you can't get one.

i used to be a democrat, many years ago,but i found out too much about their politics. they are not any more tolerant than republicans. i respect your right to your own opinions, mintjelly; you can make political cartoons as you wish. But i was a democrat, very involved, i found out, they would not respect my right to my beliefs any more than republicans.

Any group that won't let you have free speech, free choice, and forces you unfairly, whether republican or democrat, or whatever they are,and lies, is wrong. But mintjelly, you have freedom of speech here,so if you want to do cartoons, too,of whatever, you can do it. no one will stop you. you can do your own beliefs, just as Axel has his. OK?

This is how the 'Dragonshy' episode should've ended xD

And today I learned I can not draw dragons! :D
or backgrounds..

Again, this picture is not finished but I ran out of room and cant edit it anymore, so you will need to enjoy it without lightning and rain. :(
