I found some very good refs for the male figure.
I feel like studying them.

I found it. I knew I had this book somewhere around here.
hideyourface (edited May 9, 2006)
loomis is great. His books used to be online. Apparently not now though.
solve (May 9, 2006)
Theres a Andrew Loomis book on "human anatomy for artists online" website.

Simple yet interesting pose. The subject has a good build too. For the lack of details in area this shows a lot. I think you did best on the legs and torso.
SYTHE (May 12, 2006)
This is an awsome quick sketch. You have a superb anatomical understanding, great pic.

ok, I'm guessing, David Bowie's cousin gets a job as battery tester? Excellent work, though.
Axil62 (May 9, 2006)
Very good! :)
solve (May 9, 2006)
Little too muscular for David Bowie, he seems to have lean muscle (Bowie).
But.. The face ( With the "sharp" cheekbones, eyes, and nose) are similiar. More than similiar but yes.

how does the order go when it comes to the little title you get. I see Beginner, dabbler, apprentice...and so on...what are the ranks for those? just wondering. thanks.

This seems to suit you more, to me at least. More vectorish, less fully blended. The again its almost like a mixture of both at aprts. I know im not going to word this write but here goes. With this style the definitions in templates/contours stand out more. Its like you could take each part away and disassemble it. Both styles are great but going by your dev gallery this seems to be more of your tastes.

Good color choices, semi metallic/earthish. Im going to have to use those sometime.
davincipoppalag (May 7, 2006)
This guy looks like he could handle the Tums...Cool style Clox
Zack (May 8, 2006)
That intentional color banding is so slick.
frootcake (May 8, 2006)
slick - absolutely. i must be the thick lines but his nose looks too far to (our) left. its definitely that thick line on the right of it, but it looks like its broken or summit, but that just adds to hard he looks

I think I see aspects of two faces and a skull. I would like you to spend more time on these too. Possibly continue what you started. From what I see you have the facial features in order (the yellow one would be the best indicator). I dont know how far you want to go with art, be it for doodling or serious rpactice... all I can recommend is what I do. Study traditional genres/techniques of art and practice, practice, practice. Many people can testify that there is nothing as important as this.

Just a word of advice, its not always best to ask people what they think. Some people on here can be assholes. Including myself.
marcello (May 8, 2006)
doesn't matter, the assholes might tell you whether you ask or not. ;)
LisaAnne (May 8, 2006)
Eh screw what they say, the best thing you can do is get honest feedback. I'm really excited to see your work progress, because you have ideas, and that's lacking on this board.
Just practice and your skill will come. (My work is not skillful or really inventive on here, but none the less that's how I feel)
