TaCO (edited Jul 27, 2007)
My Comic I did 50 pages in 50 days!!!!!! I draw a comic Every Day :) This is just a practice comic; once I get to 200 pages I'll start a story comic. So what do you think? Does It suck? Is It cool? What's your favorite one? Which one do you Hate? Do you have a comic?

Falling is easy, it's getting back up that becomes the problem.

My favorite from you, so far. It has an excellent lighting and I like the details :)

Thanks for the nice comments.
Sweetcell (Jul 25, 2007)
His legs do look a bit stunted, but the shading and detailing makes you not really see it unless it was pointed out to you. His hands are nicely done (you got the digit wrinkles in there) and he looks like he's been shot by his well rendered expression. You get better and better, and your really good at doing scratchy pen work.

Oh, and to answer your question Oekaki Shi has different types of medium tools (pencil, watercolor, airbrush and pen) Lascaux has really only two, but they can be used the same way.

This was supposed to be done on the contest board, but then I realized that it had to be drawn from a photo and not an oil painting, when I fully read Kloxboy's instructions a while later.

I like the opaque tones in that painting

beautiful art.

Thanks! I'll try to join the contests more often =P

I hope this qualifies.

Jan Saudek is one of my favourite photographers. His pictures are unapologetic, to say the least, and they hit you like a punch to the face. When I saw this contest I immediately thought of him.

If you watch the animation you'll see I had a hell of a time with the face, and I wish I could have cropped the canvas after finishing the piece. (That is obviously not going to happen.)
I'm not great with backgrounds, but I gave it a shot.
Also, I hope my lack of experience in the nude department isn't too terribly apparent.

Phew.

patienceisoverrated (Jul 28, 2007)

I think this is pretty good! I like the perspective on the TRex
PaintIt13lack (Jul 21, 2007)
ok... i wanted to fix the background, cause it needs it baddly, but when i went to revise it i got this message 'You cannot revise this entry because you've reached your 400kb entry space limit on this board. You can request a moderator to grant you extra space for this image.' I'm new here so i don't really know a lot about how this site works, but is there anyway i can edit this drawing?
friend (Jul 21, 2007)
Good job on the background so far! Looks great! You need to find a moderator like Marcello or Sweetcell or some other mod whose names i forget and memo them the problem with the link to this page.

Gotta love that bug-eyed little dude in the middle there
Sweetcell (Jul 19, 2007)
Well wow, I can definately see how you succeeded. This reminds me of ad art from the 90's. Imagine this printed on shirts (or sleeves) or caps, or even socks. So much for the eyes to see.
MelissaMissy (Jul 19, 2007)
Oh my god. I could never seat there so long doing that. It's excellent, better than beginner. The design is so delicate and there is no wobbliness in the line at all. I can see this design on a beach towel...

I've been swapping secrets with John Joseph all night. We've adopted each other.
I've decided to try harder.

My hands are shaking like crazy, yo. (Familial tremor is a bitch.)

The colours are yummy. This is really cool.
shalalaheartattack (edited Jul 19, 2007)
Ooooh, it's a mystery! Haha.
John Joseph is a good friend of mine. (Not the comedian.)

Thank you guys.

(P.S. - That face belongs to me! XD)
Sweetcell (Jul 19, 2007)
This is so good, loving the brush strokes you used in this to give her face structure. And what an expression. Never thought these colors could work so well together.

He is beautiful...I like pretty much every aspect of your drawing :-)
Sweetcell (Jul 19, 2007)
You used Lascaux, omg you came over to the enemy. JK. XD

He's a lovely elf, actually has the feel of one with his silver hair. Scow makes pretty colors don't it?
Silvair (Jul 19, 2007)
Haha, thanks everyone! I kind of neglected the ears after I got frustrated with this XD. Let's just pretend that they uh.. magically disappear when you're looking...
@Sweetcell: Lmao, I'm being converted! I blame it on the web colours palette. I can totally see how some artists are able to consistently pick just the right colours. I'm such a space guzzler for Lascaux though.. a 300x300px headshot took up 1mb of space!

try adding more contrast. you could do this by making a new layer with burn and filling it with various colors until you find something you like (or try other layer blending modes).
lori (edited Jul 19, 2007)
thanks peoples - Cello, I did try to mess with contrast using a different program, but it still looked like shit. The problem with this was that at some point I had switched from airbrush to paintbrush, and didn't realize for a while that I never switched back to airbrush, so it doesn't look as good as intended. But yes, contrast would help too, but I'm done with this sucker.
gizemko3 (Jul 19, 2007)
it's still beautiful. i just love clouds...
Sweetcell (Jul 19, 2007)
I don't know, I like it. It's like looking at the corner of a large canvas in detail.
Purple, blue and yellow, all good.
