Just a girl on a day with the sun out blaring. I haven't drawn here for a while, so I'm kinda rusty. Hey everyone! Glad to be back! I hope you like my picture! I kinda like the way it turned out, I couldn't tried harder, but ya know me. My pics are easy and quickly drewn. (I know, 44 minutes isn't "quick") |

I messed up! Oh, well. I think it is kinda cute, but I do know the colors are all messed up in the background, I went a little crazy...he he. I Hope nobody deletes it, though. :-)

Well, thanks for saying it's cute, but I did mean Mini Mew, I have never watched Tokyo Mew Mew because I didn't want to bother reading the subtitles at the bottom while the characters were talking in Japansese. |

Just a picture of Ichigo from Mew Mew Power...not very great, but it's the best picture of a person I have...at least a Japanese character. Just got hooked on the cartoon. It didn't really take 40 min., I had to leave the computer.

Mew Mew Power is the sucky American dubbed one. And I can't stand it. Mew "Zoey's" voice makes me want to hurt people.

uh, this stinks so bad...anybody got tips for hair, cause I need serious help with the hair, and maybe the nose, I'm bad with noses. Any help would be appreciated. :) Well on the main subject it's just an anime girl.

The is pretty good for a test. I actually like the hair and the eyes look really cool. I wish i could learn that! ^__^

Erm... I'm no expert on realism, but you've got the basics down. I watched the animation, and you started by blocking the main colors in, which is definitely the way to start. Then you started using the blur tool, which, while useful at times, isn't the best in a pic like this. The dodge and burn tools are also dangerous when not used carefully. I much prefer to choose a darker shade of the same or a slightly different color. It's a little extra work, but it shows and gives the picture much more depth. Don't be afraid to shade with unconventional colors--if you're using a ref, and you see the colors there, they will work in the painting. For the fur on your cat, I'd take a very small brush at a low opacity and make short strokes in the basic color you want. Then, add darker tones in the same method. After that, work on the highlights, same way. The best thing that I can say about painting realism is--paint exactly what you see. Sometimes people have a an archetype in their heads, but if you work from that, the proportions can get all wonky and end up looking weird. I always second-guess myself when I'm painting. I hold the ref up, look at it sideways, upside down, whatever, to make sure I've gotten it the way it is. It takes a bit of practice, but with the start you already have, you should do very well. Just a Japanese character. I saw it while searching for Petit Charat, just ran into it. I thought it was was cute, so I drew it on paper and then on the computer.
