No refs. These are my characters. I created Chamilins: a mythical creature like half Arabian Horse and half Whitetail deer (no horns. Think "The Last Unicorn" style.) They are not horses, nor deer. I created them in 1995 and copyrighted them in 1998. My book Rose Dancer is out of print (going to revive in on Lulu.com) All different colors, names, and personalities. And stories. This was not easy to do. My WACOM tablet doesn't like this applet, as the tablet is VERY sensitive. This was a struggle. So used to Corel Painter that this was hard to do. Wish there was a blender brush or a color dropper on this applet. I do MUCH better work than this. Go to deviantart.com and check out Raph1966. Home of the Chamilins. Silver Shadow and Glader Runner, Rose Dancer, Chamilins (c) Christine Earle 1998, 2004, 2008

Oh that brings up another question: which would be the best to use in your opinion: Lascaux Sketch? (seeing as you are sending me there on the link). Does anyone on here use WACOM styluses? Thanks for giving me info on the dropper and blender. I didn't wanna ruin what I'd done by getting into something that I couldn't get out of. (I've used MS Paint on a WACOM. It's.....interesting. I guess when you have Corel you're just too used to it. )I was looking for different art online communities (I'm already a member of DA, SA and waiting on FA), but I didn't know (until now) that you DO the art on the site, not upload it. Quite a fresh concept. As you get better in experience, does the applet get more "advanced" in brushes and settings as well? I'll have to read that Wiki. Also didn't know about the Points System. As I do not like to "make waves", hopefully I will stay on the positive side. I don't think I'll be able to do much work on here though. Not with my WACOM. :(
Sweetcell (May 17, 2008)
Don't worry about the point systems. It really doesn't matter. As for all you asked, most people like Lascaux (I'm one of them) because it's as close to Corel as you can get. You'll only find it here on 2draw because Marcello created the program. Some prefer Oekaki Shi, it has tones and watercolor, though you can achieve watercolor on Lascaux by putting the opacity and flow on low (they're the two sliders beneath the specialty tools, the slider can be moved right and left, right is more opacity and color, left is less.) The appelets don't become more advanced, they remain the same, however since there are more tools on Lascuax than Shi you may learn to use all of them and advance yourself. There are things on Lascaux I STILL have no idea how to use, and I've been here for years. Do you know about layers? Thank the maker for layers. Until I came here I didn't know they existed and had to draw like a coloring book. If your not sure what they are and want to know more just memo me (place your mouse over my name and a list should come up, click send memo) and I'll try to explain the best I can. They're an interesting species and hope to see more of them. Welcome.
marcello (May 18, 2008)
probably the majority of the regulars here use wacom tablets. I use one. You'll want to install JTablet so that you can get tablet pressure support in the applets: http://sketchstudio.cellosoft.com/
StormDancer (May 22, 2008)
Thanks for answering questions. I'll look into this perhaps. I can't believe people made all those realistic-looking works with what I was struggling with. And I do know about layers. I don't usually use them because sometimes one will "Bleed" over another and I can't fix it. |

This "emo" argument bullshit is pretty gh3y.Listen to City of Caterpillar, A Day in Black & White, Pg.99, Hoover, Rites of Spring, Books Lie, Moss Icon, Fugazi, and Transistor Transistor, then try to tell me they all sound like MCR . And most members of actual emo bands have short hair, wear t-shirts and regular or loose-fit jeans. Not only that, but emo's a subgenre of hardcore punk that tends to integrate elements of post-rock (in the most contemporary forms, at least) that originated after the "revolution summer" of D.C. hardcore with bands like Rites of Spring, Beefeater, and Embrace, which is now leaning more into screamo-esque emo, save a few more traditional acts like Fugazi. For those who'd actually care to look into some real emo, I'd highly recommend Rites of Spring, seeing as it's the most common among neophytes to the genre, and my personal favorites, Pg.99, a Day in Black & White, and City of Caterpillar, the latter two more vividly expressing the contemporary's post-rock roots. I know, being a super genre l33ts musicfag elitist who is a fan of the subgenre and of all hardcore punk. Oh, and I've never been to 4chan, outside of /mu/ Long live the confederisah!

wait... what the hell does that actually mean?and anyway I only drew because i was bored and they're my favorite band so can everybody just shut up I mean does any of this crap actually matter? It's only a picture so shut up with your big fancy words correcting my grammar and that It's just a picture this is a site for drawing not for discussing what you have to say about the band! um and can I say something about his whole urban dictionary: Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.<yer that and all I can say is I'm offended

YET AGAIN I SAY: fuk the labels and stereotypes its a great picture and thats all the matters! =]] |

I've been using a WACOM Graphire4 ClassicXL for a while now and quite like it. However, I've just been borrowing it and the time has come to buy my own (or get one for my birthday) and I've found a decent price here for the same one, but also for an WACOM A6 Bamboo tablet with a higher resolution at half the price (but obviously smaller working area). Classic XL: Bamboo: ...

I'm going to smack sweetcell with a dictionary. It's you're, as in "you are." Your is possessive, and a completely different word. I see people using your instead of you're all the time on the Internet and it just bugs me. x_x
marcello (May 12, 2008)
but see, 'ur' is so much easier, you don't need to worry about apostrophes or Es or the quickly approaching end of humanity!uhm..sorry for the spelling errors..i got used to using those words...Dx
and uhm.. marcello, what do you mean by intentional irony? sorry i didn't understand what u meant..

*eeeps* Shang.... calm down and put away that book. *sheesh* |

Hello, this is my first drawing on this website. This image might be crude, but I feel it is important, crucial even, that I receive proper constructive criticism. If you find this image offensive, then please ignore all the satinic imagery contained within this image.
Cameo (May 11, 2008)
I second that, Marziila!
patienceisoverrated (May 11, 2008)
who could be offended by satin, it's smooth and glossy, drapes well and feels nice!
marcello (May 11, 2008)
you can't do this not on purpose.
enjoydotcom (May 12, 2008)
Lmao, it took me several times reading your comment patience, before I finally got it. *hits herself on the face, tssk, looking for smooth and silkyness in the drawing* Only reason one could get offended is because of the lack of quality. |
