Ginger is a dancer

pose from memory, mirror used for neck area.

Haven't done much drawing lately. I felt like dancing today and wanted to capture my character Ginger in a fun movement pose. Think I captured it as best i could as a short 20 min drawing before bedtime. Marking it as unfinished because I think I should fix her hair a bit.. maybe later. :)

I think that one of the greatest challenges of figure drawing is be able to draw poses that are realistic enough and believable too. It's something I really admire about comic book artists, who can draw characters in different situations and have their poses look natural (well, most of the good ones; a few don't really do a good job...). Anyhow, I think its neat how in a rough-looking picture I can just add a few lines and make it look like she is wearing a shirt of sorts so I don't have to ponder how to do her nipples. XD

edit: ok, i hate how i wanted this to be a short sketch and ended up trying to refine things a bit too much. Ok it's finished!

It looks like a badly-executed watercolor! Believe it or not, this is what my watercolors actually look like... blurry, blotchy, scratchy and sketchy! Blah, oh well.

drawn in 19 min

gosh...does anyone know what makes the freehand tool stop working? that's why I have so many different entries. the freehand won't leave a mark but it shows up in the history.

any help?

Maybe you made a very tiny selection somewhere on the page with the select tool? If you did, you might not be able to see it and you won't be able to draw anywhere outside of it. Just take the select tool and click once on the page without dragging to make sure anything selected will be deselected. If not, above the area where you change the size of the brush there's a series of buttons for pre-made brushes in a row. Try clicking one of those and then drawing. It seems to me that's worked in the past.

all in favor of enforcing the 13+ age requirement more rigidly

i had no idea you ever started enforcing that ever. (joke)

@ ichigokurosaki; maybe for your next picture, you could try some thinner lines, smaller eyes (please smaller eyes), and try to finish the picture all the way to the end of the canvas. :)
Lastly, TRY SOMETHING OTHER THAN ANIME! you'll get a lot better if you try different styles.

i like brussel sprouts, and you can all kiss my ring! lol joking :p Id say van goghs sunflowers were only intermediate but that paintings worth millians! I think the 3 galleries should be called 1 2 and 3 because some quick sketchy drawings can also be advanced. The galleries should be judged on time spent, so the more effert you put in the longer they stay on the board.
