this is great Kulu :)

What an ingenius way to use empty space. The man's face looks like it's turning into a skeleton with the use of darks which ties into the flatline, which of course represent death. At least that's what I see. I like art that makes you interpret things your own way.
Kulu (May 10, 2008)
thanks guys n gals..the dude is kinda inspired by an old ghost rider scene from a comic, but its from memory. the ekg turned out okay too |

And God created horses .... for you to ride and as an adornment. KORAN
Aakyra (May 20, 2008)
Thanks QT ... I have a few details to rework on this ... and yes patience is something I have learned, it saves me time and money in the long run, some things that look nice or seem nice don't always translate to "wow" compositions for painting.
klm21 (Jun 29, 2008)
that is a beutifull horse very nice drawing good details...
Aakyra (Jun 30, 2008)
Thanks so much K! Even though this has been submitted I have tweaking it for a competition I want to enter. I may do several more small changes. I appreciate you taking time to look at my work!
firecracker (Jul 14, 2008)
Hi Aakyra!! This is "sparky" from sketchfu.....I am so glad I finally found you. I was just looking through your gallery....and I can't believe my eyes!! Your artwork is more amazing than ever....I just have to keep looking at these horses....this Arabian looks sooo real...I can almost "reach out" and pat him!! You are really an amazing artist.....I'm just "speechless"...."LOL"!!! |

I like the perspective, it seems so wacky.
Aakyra (May 9, 2008)
The eyes are captivating... she looks young ..but old, drawn somehow. I keep coming back to this piece.. it really is very good.
x_Lucky_Clover_x (May 10, 2008)
She looks like she needs a good cup of coffee.

isn´t too long
zep (May 9, 2008)
thanks people :)It is good to be back from time to time Klox....not enough time :( It must be a better title Fuzzy ", fear and flames" (there´s a volcano in my country erupting (ng?) at this very moment, sad and incredible thing) I think i prefer the background too Lori :) cheers
davincipoppalag (May 9, 2008)
I heard about that volcano..is it actually erupting now? It was just clouds of ash last I heard.. they're scary
STARZSHINE (edited May 9, 2008)
oh zep you are the master of obscure, I love the work you do quite a provocative draw! As for the volcano, I have seen the pictures that national geographic has captured of the eruption, what devastation, the whole country side is covered in ash. I think the most frightening image was the huge black cloud that was amidst the lightening and thunderstorms, I have never seen nature so violent...in that manner. hoping things are well with you where you are...
Aakyra (May 9, 2008)
Intense emotion in this. An incredible pic! |

Thereis one who can help who turns the wheel from non-existence to a sweet breathing emptiness. - Rumi I went about this very messily, but I enjoyed it anyway... this would be fanart, I guess, of a pic in my calendar... you may see more art (better art) like this @ www. brushdance.com
backmagicwoman (May 7, 2008)
It's very beautiful and also interesting to look at....I used comic books as my inspiration for anatomy all the time when I first started oekaki..but now I don't need them...and i think eventually you will be able to come up with more original pieces....you are a great artist and we all have faith in you...:)
STARZSHINE (May 9, 2008)
lori, we all go through that, when we were young our imaginations could keep us drawing all day long, then we age and life sucks the imagination and magic right out of our minds and hearts, so don't feel bad, we all have that issue, I have things floating up in my head but can't seem to lasso them and put them down on paper, the way my mind's eye sees them, that is probably why I get stuck using photo ref. so much, it is easier than frustrating my self to death trying to pick my brain and make my hands produce what my mind sees....oh such is the life of a cynic...lol
lori (May 10, 2008)
well said --- and thanks backmagicwoman :)

This is very nice Lori! Reminds me of some sort of Alex Grey art. http://www.alexgrey.com/ The artist who did art for the well known Band called "Tool". |

Reminds me of this holographic shirt pen my brother used to have..it's cool:)
enjoydotcom (May 6, 2008)
DK, if you look besides the image, and only see it from the corners of your eyes, it will move. At least, it did when I looked. At first I also wanted to say, not advanced. Until I noticed you used Lascaux, that to the best of my knowledge does not have a texture like the background. So at least you get a 'kudos' for that.
gel_o (May 6, 2008)
ouch...very interesting.
Kulu (edited May 8, 2008)
thanks all...bmw what makes a pen specifically a shirt pen? ;)and enjoy, advanced was used for size...these types of illusions are hard to replicate effectively on a smaller scale. as per the textures, well, its not, its lines...lots of them, with just enough frequency to sequence evenly..there are some imperfections, and it does not have the effect i wanted, but im happy |
