I thought that since there's a lot of people here that have 1. an eye for design and 2. opinions, I'll show you the magazine I've been working on to see what you all think. We just got the latest issue of the magazine I work on online in a pdf version, on this website. Just click the image of the september magazine at the top. It's kind of a big file but I don't think you can download it. Here's some things to keep in mind when you're looking at it...

A cartoon rendering in my style of a scene in one of AFI'S videos. The background in the screenshot was ugly so I changed it to be the CD cover background.Figure Ref Background Ref Uh... am I allowed to post on this board?

the angle and contrast (between the feather-fine details and smooth portions such as the figure's skin & clothes) are fantastic. love the monochrome, too. good job!

whoa this is really trippy! Especially that face. It's like the terminator-spider. EWWWWWW. I can't help but think that whenever I look at it, it seems to generate a height of about 8 feet like the ones in the movie "Eight Legged Freaks". lol And the mechanical leg seems to make the spider look indestructible. yiiiiikes. but great job on this though. |

I think this is the most realistic drawing/painting I have ever seen. The skin is amazing.

KGH: You need to see more art then. This is a good piece but it's not superior or even that interesting, imo. This is more of a reflection of another artists perspective (the original photographer), opposed to being a true, unique connection with the subject matter. The girl who painted this piece was more of a "spectator" than an artist, at least from what I knew about her. Some people think they can just dabble in anything, come and go as they please but in the end, they'll never truly gain anything from the expereince. True expression takes dedication, understanding and sacrifice, I don't see any of those qualities here.
