Very nice Aubrey, I don't know how I missed seeing this one. It really does look like a photo that was taken using a slow shutter speed in a fast paced market. This reminds me of something you would see in National Geographic or in the Smithsonian magazine :]

Cooler than cool. I love this robot.

I'd say a ton more, but then I'd just feel redundant.

the soft lines are impressive when the subject matter is usually so hard and metallic. i would love to know how you go about painting something so soft. the background is just as intriguing as the subject.

Rough Guide...feel free to erase anything, I'm sure its not quite in proportion
Draw on one layer, put black square over your work on seperate layer.
Make a note in your revision which layers you edited.
Please add layers for next person to use.
when mentioning which layers you used, it would be helpful if you state the # and its position, ex: "i used layer 1. on the bottom" or "I used layer 1. on the top".
reason being what one person considers the first layer is relative.
Order of drawing will be the same in which offer was accepted, 1. Dan, 2. Clox, 3. Staci, 4. myself.
Pick whichever block is still available.
Please refrain from peeking at previous work, I think it would add more to the experiment.
Feel free to draw in whatever style/colours you choose as long as ref is recognizable

How can it be perfectly round, when it has three holes in it?
Sweetcell (Mar 29, 2006)
I have that chair, in blue..... but it's about the ball, the ball. Since it's invisible only you can tell us, is it black or blue? X)

Love... And there was something about the way she smiled and laughed that had a lasting impression upon me. I was no longer dreaming about what might happen that night under the moon, I was now captured by the moment. Her laughter touched my soul, and I felt the need to keep her laughing, to keep that smile on her beautiful face. There were no butterflies in my stomach, instead I found myself swelling with a deep and profound joy... Crud... I think I'm falling in love.

Great job on this one. I never really got into his music. He was alot like Dio, but with more of an operato singing style to it.

Contest Week 79: 18th Century

Because the 18th century saw multiple art movements in Europe, we're going to have themes of both the late Baroque and the Rococo. I would especially recommend looking up Jean-Antoine Watteau and Thomas Gainsborough.

YOUR GOAL WILL BE TO MAKE AN ORIGINAL ARTWORK (not a copy of another painting) that reflects the styles of one of these two art movements.

-Contest Week 79 will be open for entries for roughly 2 weeks starting from now until Saturday, June 21, at 11:59pm PST. That's the end of the day on Saturday for people in the US.

That being said, this is a nice copy.

addendum: oops this isn't for this contest, is it. sorry.
Roytje (Jun 16, 2008)
And it isn't a 18th century painting...
But I like this, nice atmosphere.
kejoco (Jun 16, 2008)
yeah, this was done (never completed) for a contest back in 2006.
I got bored with it
