There is a lot of movement like vibration almost, yet contained in it's own little spaces of swatched colour, almost segregated. There is some suggestion of blending yet not totally...which is necessary to keep the unique colour. Makes me think about countries like here in Australia with so many different cultures (colours) that are vibrant and try to all 'blend in' together yet inside know it isn't possible otherwise you lose that 'unique colour'. If that makes sense.

I was using the square brush.. and sometimes I have a light touch that creates what may look like those vibrations you said. Blend was definitely used.. I use blend a lot in my art. I have always wanted to go to Australia and scoff me some opals!

LOL@lori...I wasn't sure either when i came across the photo (over a year ago :O I believe it's a puppy, just don't know the breed...maybe someone will recognize it?

trepidation is what I would've called this.. it's pretty cool all those lines and colors that you integrated into this to make it all come together

This totally grabbed my attention! I love the choppy/messy appearance it has but with the very well placed lights, darks, and mid tones ground it just enough to be a great piece! Nice work there Foxbrownie!

Yellow's not just for flowers

Well, it's a little belated, but, in honor of my mother just the same (9/10/38 - 4/29/07). I always do a drawing in honor of my mom about twice a year, her birthday and the day of her passing. My mother LOVED yellow, flowers mainly, but I decided to do something a lil different this time. She had this pink ceramic piggy bank all my life that she kept change in and then stored on the highest shelf possible (away from lil hands). I always loved it! When I saw this yellow guy, I knew it was 'the one' this time....thanks for lookin'!

Besides the story about your mom, I adore this little piggy. It has a photo realistic feel to it.
